EXCLUSIVE: Warnock set for Villa exit as Lambert bars him from first-team training By NEIL MOXLEY PUBLISHED: 21:30 GMT, 22 August 2012 Stephen Warnock has been excluded from training with Aston Villaâs first-team squad by Paul Lambert. The one-time England left back was told earlier this week by the clubâs new boss that his services were not required. It is understood he has been offered to Blackburn and Sunderland. Warnock, 30, will now train with Villaâs development squad as Lambert continues to weed out those on high wages. Exit: Stephen Warnock has been told he has no future at Aston Villa James Collins and Carlos Cuellar have already been allowed to leave and another player earmarked for the chop, Alan Hutton, has hardly been seen around the first-team recently. Now it seems Warnock, handed a £2million-a-year contract during Martin OâNeillâs time in charge, is also unwanted. He was part of Fabio Capelloâs World Cup squad two years ago but since then fell out of favour at Villa as he was cold-shouldered by Gerard Houllier. Though he got back in the side under Alex McLeish, it seems that Lambert has made signing new full backs a priority. He signed Matthew Lowton from Sheffield United for £3m, displacing Hutton who had cost Villa £4m just 12 months ago. And he is now in the market for another left back. Hutton on the cheap sounds good
Read somewhere the other day Hutton wants to move to Rangers. (The jock ones. ) I like Warnock but his high wages and being 30 now, I'm not sure.
This, a million times this. If we get Warnock, Olsson will go to Villa, and they'd be better off. Olsson is perfect for us.
