"I'm frustrated because we just lack that bit of quality, a bit of midfield creativity and a bit of pace". http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21816200 Well two words Neil: Ross Barkley. One of the most promising midfielders in the country and someone who you apparently couldn't find space in the team for. Oh, and lack of pace? Well we've only been telling you that for about a year. What next? You'll complain that we lack quality up front and could do with a striker who scores 19 in half a season? What a ****ing moron.
He let Barkley go because he couldn't guarantee him first team football. It had nowt to do with money.
That's what we were told. I wouldn't believe everything were fed by the pr people. There's a fair list of players recently that suddenly didn't want to play for us anymore and of course, the club are never at fault. Ha
Well that's what Warnock said from his own mouth so it's ludicrous to blame the club. I suspect that Colin knew that Barkley was too skillful to work with his hoofball tactics.
So ludicrous that two weeks after he was sent back, gfh had to put in a further million to plug shortfall in clubs cash flow to cover wages etc
Isn't that a reflection on the fact that Bates left the club in debt and with serious cash flow problems? Barkley was sent back to Everton because Warnock couldn't offer him first team football. That was the reason he gave. During January he was also allowed to sign Stephen Warnock and Michael Tonge, two good Championship players who will be on decent wages. If GFH were so cash strapped why would they sanction those signings?
They've said this week the money being invested in new players will depend on season ticket sales, with first 7k sold dead due to bates mismanagement. They inherited a mess, but one they knew all about, six months haggling and due diligence. They're fooling themselves and trying to fool us as well if they think they can build a promotion winning side solely from the present rabble and adding whatever they an from season ticket revenue. Club needs a very different type of owner at this moment
I wouldn't disagree with that but we have to deal with the here and now. It's pretty clear that GFH would sell up if a billionaire came in with wads of cash, but as yet no one has come forward. GFH have rightly identified the need to increase gate reciepts to generate money for transfers, hence the very sensible move to cut season ticket prices. A new manager will inherit a nucleus of a team capable of winning promotion (Kenny, Byran, Warnock, S, Lees, Peltier, Tonge, McCormack) plus will have money freed up from the (presumed) departure of Kisnorbo, Connelly, Somma, Brown, Bromby and Habibou who are all out of contract at the end of the season. He will also have the likes of quality players like Polean and Dawson coming through the ranks. Add in some quality and creativity to midfield and another striker and we would have a decent team.
