It has been widely purported in the media and by a few posters on here, that Neil Warnock and his coaching team
are dinosaurs and 'old school' in terms of coaching and managing.

    This is incredibly naive.
Do you really think that a manager of Warnock's stature would still be involved
in sport ( Let alone the Premiership ) adopting 1950's style coaching tactics
without embracing scientific development, in regards to fitness, nutrition and sporting psychology?
Plus many other micro fields of sporting endeavour that are increasing on an almost monthly basis.

For instance, I have seen a lot made of MH's use of 'Prozone.'
Do you not think Neil used this?

If you look up at the corners of the stadium you can see little black globes that look like CCTV cameras.
    These are actually prozone technology.
I don't know if anyones noticed, but during games you never saw Mick Jones in the dugout.
He used to sit at a specially built terminal in the SAF stand, just in front of the journos.
From here he used to gather all the incoming data from prozone and relay this down to the bench.
The incoming data would tell you what every single player on the pitch was doing, in terms of speed, distance covered, positioning etc.
I don't want to get too involved in all the technical stuff, I think you can see what I mean.
I'm sure somebody on here has far better credentials than I can ever dream of in this field.

I suppose you could argue that it's the way in which this infomation is interpreted.
    ( Worked last season though.)

As I mentioned earlier, this is just one example.
There are many aspects to football management other than having an orange at half-time and having a rant.

Neil Warnock maybe many things, but a dinosaur...Never.

Hes a man who cannot reply to emails and doesnt want to learn how to do it.

If he cant be arsed to do that, how would he use all the latest technology?

I like NW but he was very guilty of being at least 7 years out of date it's not his fault but this league has grown crazy over the 7 years.
It that difference that some have picked up on dinosaur no old fashioned and out of touch maybe but even then it poses the question has the game gone too far?
    Times change I'm afraid

Yes, I actually do think NW is a 'dinosaur' (albeit a very respectable one). To quote a line from Oceans 13, he's an analog player in a digital world. Works in lower leagues but not at the very top.

I think its surely the balance of being a good coach and a good manager. Take AVB for example , done all the coaching badges and technically probably very sound, can he man manage like Mourinho , probably not. There is a balance between the two that is necessary these days.

I think the reason people started to question Warnock was on Team selection, playing players out of position and his general tatics which appeared non-existent towards the end of his reign. Also the way he has come across on his interviews in the last 6 months was pretty clueless. After Flabio went i was looking forward to seeing the real Warnock , but to be honest it was all a bit lame. Every week 'we need to pinch ourselves, what a great player he is , what a fantastic stadium to come to'. You don't see Lambert or Rodgers saying those things week in week out. It all became too predictable like our gameplan.

Will always thank NW for getting us up and will be a real hero in my eyes for doing so, but in answer to your question is he a dinosaur then i would probably have to say yes, but a very nice one !!!

I did chuckle to that one and then remembered that Fergie poached MH's prozone guy away from him when he was at Blackburn as he was the best in the business.....

They may have all the equipment but if a coach is looking at the data then NW is making decisions could this be why there were some strange sustitutions. Anyway the past is behind us lets look forward to the future.

No need to be sorry, at no point did I claim or imply that
the cameras were installed by Warnock.

Yeah but in Sir Alex's first season, he didn't win the title. He finished 11th with lots of defeats. Then in his 2nd season he put it together better but still didn't the title, they finished 2nd. That's just two years, gone, like that, without winning the title. But back then people were given a bit more chance to waltz along, money was different (though increasing) and owners weren't Bonkers-Billionaires with a penchant for combing their hair on TV with more grease. And they didn't have all this technology back then! They had the ZX Spectrum!

We should've given NW a chance.

Excellent Yappy -Spot on! Sir Alex got years in fact at Man U before he really became the successful Manager. Neil got 4 months with a bad deck (the summer), was on his target, gets sacked, and then we are constantly reading all the b*ll*ks we read on here about him not being good enough for the PL! As if any of us know! He didn't get the chance to prove himself, and nor did anyone get the basis to judge whether or not he is good enough for the PL, let alone give anyone a basis to have an opinion on it worth reading.

But unfortunately he is gone, QPR move on, we move on, and I hope all the people that still criticise him move on too, and cut out all these type of inane judgements on MH if he's sacked after 4 months!

Was SA in his mid 60s at that point or was he still a younger manager learning his trade? The two are nowhere near comparable.
Warnock has had 3 chances to prove himself in the PL and failed all 3 times with 2 relegations and 1 certain relegation if he had stayed.

He relegated Notts County and Sheff Utd. Thats a failure on both accounts.
