Just watched Warnock on Sky sports saying; after watching a lot of videos and spending time in training with the lads the squad isn't good enough to go up, hopefully he can bring a couple of faces in to change that if not we shall have to wait for next season. It is up to the lads now to show him that they want to be part of next seasons squad.
It isn't looking likely this season, i'll admit, but you never know. It will come as some consolation though that Baadif will **** things up like they always do.
That's just it, even Warnock feels we are not good enough from tapes and footage he has seen to reach 6th
Warnock is a smart man. With one simple statement he's taken all pressure off both him and the team. I like his thinking. Too much talk going on about promotion atm. It's now time for him to do his funky thing with the team, and for us to cross our fingers, toes, arms, legs, eyes & anything else you can think of.
Is it 1) Calming fans expectations so as not to put too much pressure on the team 2) A call for the players to stand up and be counted 3) A warning to Bates that he needs to find his wallet I am guessing a bit of all three....
I think its entirely to take pressure off himself. He has come to leeds united, a club where fans put huge expectations on the team and him, everyone has been wanting him so that he can get promotion pretty much immediately and he has to take pressure off
I actually look forward to hearing what Warnock has to say in his interviews. Some contrast in the tripe we'd been fed by bates and Grayson for the past several months
Its not unachievable - buts lets be realistic about it... He is not a miracle man... If he had come in at Christmas then I think we would get the 6th spot but as it is there may not be enough games plus now he has lost another player (not a world beater but decent). He should try and take the pressure off himself and the team, he is a smart cookie for doing so. We can finally get behind a leader, I liked Grayson but he was never a leader and that showed at times on and off the pitch... Also whoever we have as manager we still have a Board unwilling to spend money on players - So what can NW do with the squad he has which I believe is weaker than our League 1 promotion team now... He is a not a miracle worker, lets give him some space and time to turn it around.. I'm fully confident he can and will. Most upbeat and confident i have felt about the club in donkies.
I mostly agree with what you say apart from the fact that even if he had joined at Christmas, without funding we are still not good enough and I totally agree NW might be a very good manager but he isn't a miracle worker. I argued the point at the start of the season and I am still adamant that we have a weaker team/squad than last year and it has been weaker all season. Yes Grayson has made some poor signings but when you are having to constantly dip into the freebie market and when you have a wage cap in place it is always going to be a gamble. The true test will come close season, when it is Warnocks turn to scrape the barrel, will he do better than Grayson in finding an unwanted gem or will he walk due to lack of support from the Chairman. As a Leeds supporter I can't say I have ever enjoyed pre-season in recent years, it always seems to a case of who we can hold on to rather than who will walk through the door at Elland Road. I just hope Warnock gets anything that has been promised and I hope for some excitement on the boards as we discuss the exciting new players he brings in.
I think you might be onto something with that weaker than league one thing. Kisnorbo and Naylor at their best were far better than the clowns we have now.
