QPR manager Neil Warnock has admitted his side are struggling to attract players for their Premier League campaign next season. The Hoops have money to spend, but Warnock says they are struggling to convince top players to move to Loftus Road. The Premier League new boys have been linked with a series of transfer targets, including high profile players such as World Cup winners Fabio Cannarvaro and Marco Materazzi. The Italian duo were approached on the orders of stakeholder Flavio Briatore, but deals have not been forthcoming. Warnock is freely admitting that his lack of activity in the transfer market so far is purely unintentional. He said: "We've targeted a number of players during the last few weeks and although we've missed out on some, the board are continuing to work hard to assist me in bringing new additions to the football club. "I'm confident we'll have a few new players on board in the next couple of weeks." The R's were expected to spend big having secured promotion to the top but have had a quiet summer so far.
The Italians are not Warnocks signings, although i think they would do a great job for us in the prem, seems to be a tug of war going on at HQ as to who signs what players, i wouldn't worry to much though im sure we will have a few in soon.
Do you think that a stumbling block may be the fact that we have Taarabt in the team? (Yes, I have seen the latest on Sky.) Everything has to revolve around him and although the players last year seemed to put up with him maybe a newcomer might not want to be put in the same position. Just a thought.
Sadly, this also puts to bed the rumours that the lack of transfer activity is linked to a pending buy out. And confirms that we not spending enough to attract top players. Anyone got any good news today?
Prima donna Taarabt could well be part of it. Money has to be most of it. Nasri commanding £180k. R's on a £25k. Accepting an Rs deal wouldn't help a decent player's prospects. I think 'insult' is the word being used these days!
Not just a thought, an interesting one! It certainly may explain why Routledge doesn't want to come. I can't see it explaining Graham, I'd have thought any forward would love to have Taarabt supplying through balls (every month or so).
