Out with the hound, on our promenade My mind wandered on a few days, To Saturday´s game here in our backyard Where Canary muskets must blaze A real six-pointer, if ever there was Where an early score would ease the nerves, Any advantage will do now, because We´re all getting short on reserves So no time to stand and admire the grass Or wish those ´Mags´ a pleasant day, And please don´t be tempted to try a back pass From more than five metres away And should we try to emulate of late Another game here on our patch, Let Chelsea or Manchester City create The image we´d most like to match Please never, but never, again a repeat Of Liverpool or Spurs at home, Where defending really did take a back seat To leave a stunned Delia Dome But Toon themselves aren´t exactly in key And Benitez still new in town, This could be a good time to take on this spree With the loser sure to start looking down. Yes RBF - an early goal (or two!!) would do wonders for calming the nerves. If we fail to pick up the 3 points on offer, then I'm afraid 'the trapdoor' looms ever closer!!!
Let's hope we can do to them what they did to us. It would certainly help the goal difference! 5 from me sir, a very good read!
Hi skald bor, three points brilliant, I'll settle for a draw just to maintain the status quo with Newcastle. Can Rex score goals. LOL. Family ok ?
I´m not sure about two Braveheart, think that might be pushing it a bit , but a lead would be oh so comforting. Haven´t tested him in the goal-scoring department NORKIE, but he´s ruddy good at stopping any balls I chuck at him - so watch out Mr. Martin. Family ok, ta.
Never made myself ill over any game of football in 55 years of watching, and I don´t intend to start now, very sad if it does affect you that way, important games, yes, but not important enough to make yourself ill over, surely. Which reminds me of that ridiculous quote of Bill Shankley, that ´football is not life or death, it´s more important than that´ - which probably did as much as anything else in football to set a lot of young, impressionable fans, off on the wrong track.
You guys have taken me a little too serious, but bless you, you two are sweeties! I do get very nervous about big games. At Wembley I was shaking and praying until the final whistle. I watched the game back, we cruised it! If it was just another Championship game I would have been really relaxed and happy! Strange old game! Survival would be massive though with the money involved next season. Just survive one season, and I would probably relax. Bank that money, invest it properly. Then If we go down, we have that banked. Make hay while the sun shines. Before football implodes on itself.
