Over the course of a 46-game season, the daily grind, freak summer heatâis going to take its toll on every player. Injuries are going to mount as players train or play friendlies, tweak hamstrings, dislocate shoulders, pull groins and strain or damage ligaments. Thereâs just no way around it. Then again, Rovers are undoubtedly going through a serious rough patch with the number of its injured players increasing every day.It is quite incredible that Nine players now have serious injuries, but Ward will just have to try and get on with it. I have not known anything like this. I assume Ward is resigned to fielding a patched-up side vs Exeter with very little in the game changing pocket or like for like swaps on the bench. In any league it is difficult to plug those gaps and perhaps it has just been one of those horrible six months where we seem to get one or two back then we get three or four injured in the meantime. It has been a hell of a tough time for the club players and fans playing havoc with consistency on the field. The latest to join the list of injured players is Winger Alfie Santos ruled out for up to six weeks after breaking his thumb. With L2 budget rules we are unable to bring in replacements so inevitably Youngsters will be filling the bench for the first half of the season. Its going to be a tough old start what are your views on the injury list and do you still think we have a chance of the playoffs this season. COR
serious??? why cant he play because of his thumb?? just dont take throw ins 6 weeks?? 2 weeks max surely. mind boggles me.
The present situation is a bit like after you've played a bad golf shot. You have to start from where you are and not try and play from where you think you should have been. We have serious injury problems. Brunt isn't there to collect the punted ball and turn his defender, something he was/is quite good at. The kids will be used to playing pass and move football. So we have to adapt. Quit hacking the ball upfield to allow the opposition to mount yet another attack at our overworked defence. Try and work the ball forward on the deck. Watford play that football anyway, so they will allow our boys to do the same. What the hell if we lose 6 nil to them, while we try and adapt to a different style. We will probably lose the tie anyway and does it make a great deal of difference if we get thrashed or just go down gracefully. It wont show in the league table in six months time!! AND we might learn something a bit different.
The funny thing is, I think if we played the likes of Reading or Watford week in week out we would compete better, thats not to say we would win week in week out no chance against higher opposition, but the young lads are footballers, they would adapt and learn, playing them and using hoof ball tatics in this league will end up ruining them.
when are the injured back? gill? kenneth? harrold? (he said on his twitter 2 weeks out) brunt? paterson? clarke? clucas? woodards? hammer?
