John to leave the club with immediate effect John Ward has today been sacked from his role of Director of Football at Bristol Rovers Football Club. The Board of Directors made the decision following relegation to the Conference. Clearly radical changes need to be made to the structure of the club, and the position of Director of Football is no longer viable. Chairman Nick Higgs said: âDue to the situation we find ourselves in, it is no longer economically viable to have a fist team manager and a Director of Football. We would like to thank John for his services, but now is the time to be making these changes.â Read more at http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/ward-sacked-1542229.aspx#CIDp64vqHFjJl3sR.99
Hardly surprising. It is a lot to put on Clark's shoulders. Lee Howells has been doing a good job at Bath and has Conference experience. Maybe he would be a good foil for Clark.
Should of never got to this he shouldn't of been appointed at the start the season now's it ended badly and he's become unpopular which is shame. Good Luck JW
Dunford was asked (on the Dunford tweets thread) why was Ward allowed to stay as manager start if the season and his reply was something like Ward wanted to stay in charge. Obviously his head was not 100% on Rovers when he has personal issues going on outside of football. Hindsight I know but the board at the end of saving us should have said thank you for saving us but think you should stay with your wife.
Inevitable but sad. Would have been good if, as originally hoped, Ward had taken us into the new stadium. But it's all gone t*ts up, and Ward must shoulder some blame. Remember.......GOING BACK rarely works!
