“Whilst I could easily have arranged a game that would have seen us win comfortably, this was a tough football match and a good workout for us. We have had a tough week, in terms of physical work, and finished off with the type of game we were expecting. I was really pleased with it. I’m not looking for any easy options, and neither should my players. We didn’t get any tonight and had to work hard for what we got against a team that worked hard against us. I think it was a good night and the fans appear to have enjoyed it. While the players worked extremely hard during their week away in Lincolnshire, the one thing we are unable to do in training is replicate a match situation. Tonight my players have completed at least 45 minutes against strong opponents who made us work extremely hard. I expected a little bit of weariness from my players, in what we knew would be a competitive football match and that’s exactly what we got and we have come through without any real injury problems, which is the main thing. The younger players did well and they are going to get a chance. I like these boys; they are impressionable, and they work hard. They are raw, young, and inexperienced. We know that, but I’ve been working with them all week and took them because it was vital they were a part of the team coaching we have undertaken in that time. I’m hoping I don’t have to play five or six of them in the first team at the same time, but when I need the odd one or two, I know I can rely on them as do my senior players.”

I still get the impression that JW feels he can fill that soft centre with some of the sweeties he already has in his bag.

I trust Ward's judgement. He's done a great job so far.

great is an understatement. he has been amazing. every signing has made an impact. he made players who were below average and under performing play together and get them going turning them into a top 3 side (going by the form table since wards arrival). he has kept the spirit over the summer and kept the players worth keeping and got rid of the deadwood. i really hope we start off well as i know some fans wont have patience for another poor start.
