Latest from the Mercury; Leicester City could be alerted by Reading manager Brian McDermott's admittance that he is losing his fight to keep hold of winger Jimmy Kebe. Kebe refused to sign a new deal earlier this season and the Royals have already rejected a bid from West Ham. Although the Mercury understands that City made no attempt to sign Kebe last summer, the 27-year-old Mali winger was on former boss Sven-Goran Eriksson's radar. Current City manager Nigel Pearson has declared that one of his priorities during the January transfer window is to add extra width to his team. Kebe has a lot of Championship experience in three seasons and has made more than 120 appearances since arriving at the Madejski Stadium from French club Lens. McDermott told the Reading Post: "We either have to do a contract here, or my gut feeling is that if a contract is not signed at Reading then something will happen somewhere else. "There will be interest from other parties, I know that. We've had interest and we've had a bid. "We turned it down, and that's all I will say." The battle to land Kebe could become a protracted one during the wheeling and dealing of the next month. The Royals are willing to wait until the last minute to secure the best deal for the player, who turned down an offer which would have made him the highest earner at the club.
We face a lot of competition for his signature - he is a class player so it is expected. Has been playing rather rubbish this season though - hopefully that is because he is unhappy rather then a deterioration in his skills - unless we don't get him then the latter
Already read the same story without the bias slant on the BBC. Quite honestly, if he can't get into the Mali team, I think we should avoid.
