Just a reminder. I missed 2-3 weeks became 5-6 weeks, but still.

It’s how Derby, Birmingham and Sunderland ended up going down.

Think he needs to go now. Not because I think he’s ****, tactically inept, clueless etc. because I don’t. For whatever reason, it hasn’t worked out for him here. Same with Slutsky, who also wasn’t a bad manager.

His position is untenable now. We’re in a rut and there’s too many poor results and I don’t see us getting out of this rut with Walter in charge. His tactics are unorthodox and with the huge overhaul of players and lack of stability in general at the club, it was too much change at one time. The supporters don’t like him either so it’s just creating a bad mood at the club.

That being said, I think the head coach is the least of this club’s worries at the moment. Acun is running this club into the ground.

I agree with this, he is probably a good manager, a good person also, but it is not working here anymore.

The season is swiftly turning into a stay up at all costs one.

One of three things needs to happen:

    Walter’s system works.
Walter changes his system and it works.
    We change manager.

Of these three, the one I’m most confident in keeping us up is the final one.

I don’t dislike Walter - I think it was an interesting route to take. But sometimes you need to be realistic about where the season is going.

    Tactics?
He says he wants time to bed down 'the philosophy'
It was slim margins when he was there but ultimately his tactics didn't work at Hamburg despite having access to the division best, or among the best, players. He won't ever have that here due to finances. His tactics were supposed to bring us a) excitement and b) a competitive edge. They aren't and I now highly doubt they ever will here with us and the limitations he has to work under. The tactics are predictable, largely one dimensional and risky .... and sees our attacking and central movement being so poor. If he had the divisions best players then maybe it would work ..... in spite of the tactics not because of them.
Acun needs to make the change again unfortunately.

I agree the situation will be hard to come back from now.

As for been run in to the ground, I don't think thats true at all. If I won the Euromillions I'd be pretty happy and confident buying the club in the condition its in, he's made some mistakes but they mostly all do.

Today's performance shows that with a pragmatic manager, playing steady percentage football, this team would easily achieve a mid-table position; maybe even push on further.

That means playing like West Brom did today, not trying to reinvent the game but just getting the basics right.

I think Walter's future depends on Fener game today, if Fener loses or draws, he will be fired. If they win, he will get another chance. Anyone wants to bet on it?

I will explain my reasoning before next game.

Nearly every manager who has been sacked by a club will have been called **** by the fans. It’s not an accurate metric.

Tim isn’t a bad manager at all, but for numerous reasons, chiefly his style of football not being suited for the Championship, it hasn’t worked.

I hope he goes back to Germany and does well, shame it hasn’t worked but trust us to get the only German manager who is ineffective in the Championship.

    1. The system is too easy to play against
    2. Wally is too stubborn to change
    3. Is Acun too stubborn to admit he got it soooooo wrong

We’re going the way of Derby under Mel Morris under this ownership. We won’t even have the thrill of a play-off season to look back on either lol.

That’s one of the reasons why I think we’ve struggled. We do the fancy stuff without sticking to the fundamentals.

Nothing wrong with a 4-4-2 if you need a result.

I think Walter has changed his system - a bit, no more days of seeing the centre half bombing forward to link up with the centre forward, it is now 'Walterball-lite'. Though in the 1st half today at a corner - Pandur was in the centre circle and the nearest player was Simons on the edge of the penalty area, if Baggies had of got the ball and sprung on us we would have been in major doo-doo. I think waiting until the 88th minute to bring a second striker on is taking the piss as well - what did he expect Bedia to do in 2 mins plus injury time?
