Let's face it, he probably wouldn't have had so much game-time if Lennon had been fit, anyway; but with the emergence of Townsend as a player with great international potential, Walnut should now be looking at spending any more England game-time on the bench. I'm not saying this simply because Townsend plays for Spurs (and Walnut plays for Arsenal), and I have absolutely no intention of making silly wum comments. I think it is obvious to all but the blind that Townsend's international future is on an upward trajectory, in stark contrast to Walnut's spiral downwards.
As a gooner, it's fine by me if Townsend makes Theo sit on the bench. If he's not playing, he can't get injured. Townsend can get injured instead.
I'm delighted. Theo always gets injured playing for England, now your overrated guy has popped up, Theo doesn't have to get injured.
He doesn't need England or Arsenal for that matter with his latest one, and his last was the same forcing him to withdraw from an upcoming England squad. I think its fair to suggest England didn't cause that one either!....I think you're making it up. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24197134
All he does is cut inside and try and shoot. Defences will figure it out soon, i'm surprised they haven't already.
You clearly haven't watched him enough, Hans. There is far more to Townend's game than that. Plus, he does have the ability to beat players, which Walnut does not have in his locker. Unless a ball is placed in front of Walnut for him to run on to, he simply cannot beat defenders. Townsend can beat players, one-on-one.
That shows how observant you are, who's RIGHT footed cross led to the opening goal by Rooney, he went outside Montenegro's FB a few times. He scored with his right foot, and in the last games for Spurs he's got in behind and put some crosses in. He's only recently added this to his game, with the effect we're seeing anyway, I'll give you that, I'm still getting my head round it myself!
...read what I said, Townsends only started using his right foot at this level to this effect...in those few weeks. Uptil then he was becoming predictable. Someones clearly had a word, as he's slipped a couple of throughballs aswell, so he's taken it on board to mix his game up. But seeing as you admit to not watching there's little point you continuing, can't comment on something you've not really seen.
Aside from the blatant bait thread, I really don't care who plays, none of them are good enough for trophies
What was that corker he scored in the Europa with his right foot - against the Irish team? He's obviously always had it, but now has the confidence to use his right foot more. Hopefully he'll continue to go outside, keep the full back guessing a bit more.
