Just a light bit of fun. Saw this elsewhere, made me laugh - I remember some pretty crazy predictions and statements popping up on 606 and not606, and thought it would be a bit of fun to laugh at some of them. I'll start: Early this season I said "I think 14th would be a great season" - I then went on a podcast and said we would come 10th. When Jos signed, I text my Dad the news, to which he replied: "Whoopie do. What a crap signing. If he's not good enough for Celtic he won't be good enough for us." He now really likes Jos! He's probably one of his favourite players. I remember some saying Adkins' appointment was "too low-key" and that Saints needed to replace Kelvin this season. So what other crazy or not so crazy things have you said and been proven wrong on? I'm sure we've all had a few... DTLW
Just remembered one from Saints vs Notts Co last season, a 0-0 at St. Mary's. A bloke shouting and walking along next to me shouted: "Lambert can f**k off and join Pardew at Newcastle, he aint good enough, he's fat and he don't want to be here." - Oops.
At home to QPR the play off season. 'What an easy game to extend it to 6 wins on the spin.' .... we lost 2-0.
I remember when Fox signed: "Why the hell do we need any more left-backs?" I'm not trying to open a LB debate!!!!
Oh yeah, my biggest error... When we signed Pulis in 2007/8 I thought he was going to be an important squad player. There, I said it.
When Lambert signed and was given the no7 shirt, I commented that he would be just another unworthy to hold the shirt and that we should have retired the shirt with matt! I am now thinking of changing my name.....
i said at the start of the season. i think we will finish 13'th, but i didnt really care as long as we finished above pompey, and beat them. well i think we might just finish above them but will we beat them?
This season at the outset, I think I hoped for mid-table. By the end of October I had changed this to the Play-offs, but would have been entirely happy still with mid-table. Amazing what can happen in a few short months. When was it that we passed the point where we could pretty much guarantee not to be relegated, because I think I missed that one..?
I said that as well, but I stand by it. I know Fox is a decent player, but I don't see anything wrong with Harding or Dickson. Also we have Shaw coming through.
I thought it too! Although I think Fox is a lot more assuring and I feel more confident in him starting than Harding. Opinions are opinions! Anyway, back to the topic!
After that Walsall defeat away from home last season: " Load of bottle jobs. Them and Adkins will keep us in this tinpot league for years"
I was the same, I felt sickened to the core. Ironic really, as I looked the other day at the table at the time and we weren't even in tha bad a position!
I thought we'd drop out of the top two for a while before a strong late run, but our rivals have slipped up and we haven't! Have to say though, I did put a tenner on saints to win the league at 14-1 before the start of the season, so I'm feeling pretty smug right now to be honest! Hope I haven't jinxed it now
