A few of you know I am missing the Newcastle match, as I am saving my energy to “Walk the Walk” that night. This Moonwalk is a marathon (26.2 miles) through the streets of London by mostly women in their bras (and a few men...also in bras!!!). The whole project is entirely to raise money for Breast Cancer Research and for the care of those affected. I did it last year and swore never to do it again!! However last December, the wife of a person I know through music festivals was diagnosed with breast cancer, she is 34, and they were just about to have kids, their whole lives are now in turmoil, all plans gone. It was such a shock...So I said that I would walk the walk again...it was the only thing I could think to do practically in the circumstances. On Saturday, we hear the terrible news about Rios wife, a mother of three young kids, taken so early and so quickly. Again, I feel shattered by the news, thinking what if it had happened to me, what if it happens to my daughters...Again I need to do something to offer support....So now I have decided I will now be walking in my QPR shirt (which is actually a fantastic relief to all Londoners, who do not need to see a 61 year old in her bra!) I know you lot get asked for a lot of sponsorship and every cause is so worthwhile...but just in case...here is my donation page....I will post pictures of me crossing the line...I will get there I promise! https://moonwalklondon2015.everydayhero.com/uk/bethan
Well done Beth and good luck. This is a very worthy cause and this nasty disease in whatever form, has and will touch many of us in one way or another during our lifetime. I hope that my small contribution helps towards your goal. I wish you all the very best, walking over twenty six miles is no mean feat.
Beth, I wish you the best of luck doing your walk. I have made a little donation to your worthy cause. Proud of you. You R's. ps, not only do you talk the talk, you now walk the walk.
Thank you so much 999s, Finglas and Stan. You are very generous.... Cheers...off to walk up and down the stairs again
Anyone who watched 'The C-Word' on Sunday would be left in no doubt how awful this disease is. I have known too many women over the years who have had this and it is a lottery of who survives and who doesn't. Best of luck Beth and I've added a small contribution to your cause...
Sian my daughter and I did it, we walked the walk completing in about 8hr 15 minutes, which is over 90 minutes faster than I did it last year....but we are absolutely knackered...and we have sworn never to do it again. So I will not be pestering you again next year! So many many thanks to all of you who sponsored us, and we achieved over £700... I will update you on the final values later. I wore my shirt, even through the backwaters of Chelsea. I got quite a few cheers...or maybe that was the other girls in bras..who knows. Thank you again...I am sure it was worth missing Rangers winning on Saturday. For the finishing picture (with us all smiling!) please go to.... https://moonwalklondon2015.everydayhero.com/uk/bethan
