Moldova please log in to view this image Venue: Cardiff City Stadium Kick off: 19.45 Wales start their World Cup campaign at home to Moldova hoping to build on the fantastic performance during Summer's Euros campaign where they reached the semi-final, losing to eventual champions Portugal. Wales have played Moldova twice before, winning once and losing once during Euro 1996 qualification. In the only previous meeting in Wales in September 1995, the late Gary Speed scored the only goal of the game to give Wales victory. Moldova have won one of their last 21 games (1-0 v Andorra), losing 14 and drawing six. Despite being without Aaron Ramsey & Jonathan Williams, Wales should be able to overcome Moldova - I'm going for a 2-0 victory..... setting the platform before more difficult matches ahead in the group, namely Austria, Serbia, Georgia & the Republic of Ireland.
Looking forward to this. Been craving that high from the Euros that is very much missing from the PL. A little worried without Ramsey, as he's the creator of many chances for us - which was evident in the Semi Final against Portugal. The problem we may well face this time is that in the past, many teams would have come to Wales confident of getting a win, but after our performance at the Euros, many teams may see a draw as a great result and therefore park the bus. That doesn't suit us as we struggle in that situation - a lot like England really - more so without Ramsey. I hope we get an early goal so that Moldova just can't sit back and hold out for 0-0. As for a score prediction, any win would be good enough (remember Andorra away at the start of the Euro qualifiers) but I would like to see a minimum of a 2 goal victory at least. COME ON WALES
Tonight could be tricky, Rambo and J Williams are injured, Ash and Taylor have only played one game and Ben and Kanu haven't played at all. As long as we win tonight I'll be happy.
A game we should win comfortably enough as long as we treat them with respect because if we dont then it could be a possible banana skin. Looking forward to it.... Should have been on BBC or ITV Wales imo..
