I do wonder how we can have a 100% record in qualifying and still go down the table? If it is on quality of opposition, there's not much we can do about it.

You also get more points for competitive games than any friendlies, so we had 2 against R.O.I & Italy, failed to win any and therefore our average went down which explains the drop. I believe Wales don't really play friendlies anymore as it's so detrimental to their ranking. Also explains why France are so low, as their hosts had no competitive games since WC 2014 and their ranking has sufferred, meaning they were 2nd seeds for Russia 2018 qualifying.

It's a load of bollocks really (the ranking system) but gotta give credit to the countries who are taking advantage of it.

EDIT: Just checked and France are 24th in the rankings, below the likes of Algeria, Slovakia, Denmark & Iceland <yikes>

Kind of proves the point though - strange how hosting a tournament can actually hinder your chances of qualifying for the next one...

Who cares, Englishland would shag the sheep lovers 3-0.

Rankings means nothing as both teams will fail in the Euros anyway

Nah we'd smash you at the moment. We'll also do well at the Euros you want to hope that you avoid us in the knockout stages.

They should remove friendlies from the ranking system as much as it's fun for us to be above Engerland at the moment I'd rather be above them for winning competitive games and doing better in a tournament.

Having Wales in the Euros gives us an extra team to support. But be honest when have the English ever cared where we have ranked in the FIFA rankings, most of us think its a joke lol

Is that because we thrashed the mighty San Marino team or Wales failed to beat that European powerhouse Israel

How rankings are put together is a joke but the fact they count towards seeding etc means it's no laughing matter.

Weren't Switzerland seeded at the last Euros? And they were gash.

Wales have done very well but to put them in the top 10 is laughable. When was the last tournament they were in? 50 odd years ago?
