today in the times there was an article with john terry saying walcott should be a striker i agree with this as when I've seen him in this role he's looked good.
but as fans who watch him regularly what do you think.
also i think if it does happen him and rvp could be a devastating partnership.

We will have to change the system and play Van Persie as a number 10. No way can Walcott play a lone front man. Is he going to be THAT good for us to change the entire system? Not sure. IMO he is fine where he is. He can start from out wide and make runs into the box and the CB's will not find that easy to mark unless a full back follows him, which gives our RB a lot of space. He already has three goals this season and will keep getting more.

Well our formation doesn't support a traditional CF, though RVP plays something close to this. Ideally the front three should all interchange and any of them can play as a striker. RVP and Walcott can easily interchange. RVP is actually very effective from the right, cutting in and shooting with his left.

Wallcott is far to inconsistent and goes missing for long spells, his one main asset is pace, and is good at one on ones with the keeper, but most teams sit deep against us therefore neutralising his one weapon (and only weapon), therefore unless he can prove that he can dribble with the ball (he seems to unable to run with the ball at his feet) I cant see him making it as a front man, I hope he proves me wrong, but I think he needs to up his game and be far more consistent if he ever wants to be a top class striker.

Walcott's goal and assist rate is far higher in his current position than many other players playing in a similar position. RVP had one of the best goalscoring records last year. Their biggest problem is their fitness, not the position thay play.

He has shown he can dribble with the ball, go past players etc
THAT run against liverpool in the CL
the run and lay off to RVP at blackburn

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_JdLSaxYrQ

the problem is he gets very little time/space on the ball because players know how dangerous he can be
And he's a confidence player, he needs a good run of decent games without injury etc before we see the real him

Well he is playing well tonight. Major role in the third goal, weaving run taking players out and then with 2/3 Bulgarians around him, he managed to slip Young in. He created that goal out of nothing.

I don't think he is good enough to be any more than a squad player. I backed him in the past but now I don't think he offers us enough to justify starting. Too injury prone to rely on as well.

    Yep, Walcott is class <ok>
He's had a bad run with injures for a couple of years so hasn't been able to get anywhere near his best.
But it looks like he could be on good form again now.
When Walcott plays well, he is really dangerous <ok>

He got 13 goals last season from the wings. And was a key part in the peak of our season in that front four of him,Nasri,Fabregas and Van Persie. He has already started this season with 2 massive goals in the CL. Who in our squad is better then him? No way in hell is going to be a squad player in this current Arsenal squad.

Don't be a knob. I have come to the opinion that he will not be a top player after several years of watching him, not because some half rate pundits told me so. I would like to see him in a strikers role so that I can revise my opinion of him but as a wing-forward I think there are much better players out there.

I see him as being a good squad player for a top club but not anything more than that. As we are not a top club (in terms of personnel) at the moment he deserves to be a starter but i'm not sold on him.
