It would be interesting. He and RVP would be the only 2 gooner players I'd consider. There's no chance of Persil I know but Walcott...well I'd say yes. We took Gallas from them so why not? Now I know that that might make me hated for a short while but does anybody agree?

I wonder whether he might be seen as a Henry-style forward. As a right winger he's not an improvement over Lennon imo

pointless signing IMO. both Lennon and Walcott are very similar players. both have good elements to their game, both have not so good.

waste of money, if it were to happen.

I strongly disagree. Ask yourself this - if you were a defender, who would you prefer to play against, Walcott or Lennon ?? Surely it has to be the predictable Walcott ??

Personally I feel that a new manager might invigorate Lennon for the new season. I was never convinced Harry rated Lennon that highly, and if Lennon is fully fit and raring to go and senses the new guy has faith in him, then he will be one heck of an asset to us. Far more so than Walcott would be imo.

When Walcott came on for England there was a huge improvement so are you only saying this because he's Arsenal Spurcat? I too think Harry didn't rate Lennon but there has been talk about his leaving Spurs. I don't consider him a waste of money. How can an international be a waste of money?

That is what substitutes are for, to improve, to change, to have an impact, That Walcott may have done that recently for England is neither here nor there in my view.

My view is that Walcott is an inferior player to Lennon. Walcott is not developing as a footballer, in fact I'd put an average player like Jermaine Pennant as having better crossing ability than Walcott. Also, Walcott sems to me to be a complete wimp at times and if I am honest, I would prefer us to keep faith with our own Andros Townsend tahn si Walcott.

And not it is not because he's Arsenal.

because he's no different to who we already have.

he's not the right player for us to be signing as a striker option either, IMO.

  15. Sorry! But have I suddenly walked into a parallel universe, where Walnut is suddenly a great player instead of a headless chicken, purely because we've been linked with some pointless speculation?

This is Walnut we are talking about, here, people! The great headless chicken of Olde London Towne.

Sure, if we could pick him up for £10 million, I'd be game, since we'd probably get at least that when we come to sell him on for being completely useless.

But, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Instead, let us examine this rampant piece of hack journalistic speculation with some calm and dignified analysis.

Firstly, this is not news of an actual approach to AFC. It is mere speculation, based upon the premise that because AVB wanted to bring Walnut to the Chavs (a club that not only has more money than us, but is also a club that is not adverse to throwing money at complete and utter donkeys).

Secondly, AVB isn't our manager. The hack journo is speculating that AVB will be our manager. Therefore, the whole story is, actually, speculation built upon speculation.

Thirdly, the story is making the speculation that, even if the other two bits of speculation prove to not to be speculation, Walnut will want to move to us. My understanding is that he was refusing to sign a new deal with AFC because he wants more money, and he's already getting paid far more than we would pay him. So, even if (a) AVB becomes our manager, and (b) we actually make an approach to AFC to buy Walnut at a price that we could afford, it is extremely unlikely that he'd join us because we'd be unable/unwilling to match the wages that he is dissatisfied with at AFC.

In short, and to summarise, this story is complete and utter bollocks.

  19. It a universe where rampant speculation is the truth, where hack journos are revered as philosopher-kings, and where Alan Brazil reports actual news.
