Morning on this quiet news day.

Just seen on the BBC gossip page that we are interested in Walcott. What do you think? I don't think it will happen but not really sure what to think, but he definitely meets our profile - gets injured a lot and not as good at scoring as he should be, but he would be an improvement on the others probably

Think we could just about do with him...in fact I think we could do with him a lot.............His injury record though is not so good.......about the same as Austin for injuries you think?

No thanks. Not a patch on the player that left us for Arsenal as a teenager, which seems to happen to most of the players we sell!

10 goals in 23 EPL appearances last year - not too shabby :)

Yeah he is definitely a far better player than when he left us ffs. Whether he reached his potential/got as good as he was supposed to be is a different debate, but there is no doubting he, as a 28 year old seasoned pro, is better than the 16/17 year old who left us.

I would have him here, think wages would be an issue though and would expect other clubs to be interested and more likely to get him .

Yeah it cracks me up when people say he's worse than when he left <laugh>

Not for me though, too injury prone, not really what we need so not gonna solve our goalscoring issues. Would want too much money for what he'd likely bring too.

    Big no from me.

Agreed. Another player pretty much ruined by Arsenal. That's Him, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chambers, and not forgetting the great Steve Williams.

No thanks especially as he would completely mess up our structured wage structure as well as utilise our entire medical team to try and keep him fit

He was 16 Chilcs and hardly a player. Harsh to say he's not the same. Maybe not futilely where we thought he'd get, I'd agree with.

I'm undecided. Certainly would not dismiss it out of hand for sure, however injuries, wages, would concern me.

What the player can give, I'd take.

I think we have exactly the striker we need. We just need to train the rest of the squad to see him and get the ball to the end of his runs. He'll do the rest.

This won't happen - I'll eat my own arse if it does.

That said, would I like to see him back at Saints? Bloody hell, of course I would. He's like Shane Long, only with an end product ffs. Why wouldn't you want him back at St Mary's? Imagine a front 3 of Walcott, Gabbi and Long? Or Redmond, Walcott and Long behind Gabbi or Austin? Might be hard finding room for Tadic, Davis and JWP then, but I'd have that problem anyday.

I doubt it too - but I'll get some salt and pepper in just in case.

As mentioned, wages would be an issue. But looking at things purely on-field, he would walk into our team right now. Possibly even as captain.

I would take him in a heartbeat.
