At the begining of the season we had one objective ,, stay in the PL

What we are seeing is us doing a fair job of that, to all those idiots who think we are safe already, we aint!

    Massive positives from yesterday are

1 we have a manager who is single minded about achiveing his goals and his focus on finishing above 17th is spot on we still have a lot to do
    2) James Vaughan played 1 st team football again , would have loved to see him with Morison but hey I only went because I thought he would get a go
    3) I now know the crowd who turn up every week are great Norwich fans not for the first time at a cup game I have been surronded by part time fans who dont sing , shout get involved but boy do they know how to moan:emoticon-0106-cryin, well Im glad you have not got a season ticket!!!! is all I can say to them , just go home listen to the radio and then phone canary call in future dont bother going anymore you whingers.

best of luck to Leciester they played very well, deserved the win and obviously need some cheer they are stuck in the CCC with little or no hope of getting out and will prob go into admin with all the cash they have splashed

WE ARE PLAYING MAN UTD NEXT WEEK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<ok>

My thoughts exactly. It was disappointing, but we now move on. If we dwell on it too long we'll end up sounding like Ipswich fans have recently.

Every thing you said i agree with. At the end of the day i am gutted we have gone out, and gutted Lambert didnt pick the strongest 11 we have as i do believe this would have been a great shot at going to wembley from a selfish point i would have loved it as i have never been. I wasnt born in 85 and although i did enjoy the day at the melenium it wasnt wembley. Plus you never no whats gonna happen. next year we could get drawn against Man city in the third round. Like you say though the prem is the priority as thats where the big money is. the longer we stay in the prem, the more money we will get and the stronger we will come.

Iquite fancy us against United at home.

Absolutely 100% spot on mate <applause>

I seriously cannot believe some of the negativity I'm reading here and heard on Canary Call, it's unbelievable! At the start of the season 90% of you had no interest in the cup at all and would have been more than happy with a 3rd round exit, and I'm sorry but apart from Jed Steer (who did ok and wasn't to blame) that was almost as strong a side as we could have put out.

We got beaten on the day fair and square, now we move onto the real stuff next week <ok>

    Morning jarold,

Certainly no-one has any reason to feel let down, I can´t imagine any of the players went out there deliberately to lose, just to put our noses out. Credit to Leicester, they came and díd a job on us, just as we did on Swansea the week before, they were the better side and deserved to win on the day. I can understand people feelíng disappointed, as this was a chance to progress in the cup, but that´s all it was, the be all and end all this year has always been the league, if we manage to hang on to our place, it will be worth a whole shelf full of FA Cups.

As someone who remembers the prestige of progressing in THE cup and heavens forbid actually getting to Wembley, it's a sad sad reflection on our wonderful game that avoiding relegation has become more important than a trip to the 'twin towers'. But hey ho times move on (for better or worse) and money has become more important than the glory, but this year I think disappointment stems from the fact we could...... just could have had both. In saying that under PL's stewardship we ain't done too bad these last three years so lets put our full trust in his judgement and who knows a few years down the line, extended runs in cup competitions may well become the norm as an established Premiership team <ok>

The league was and always will be the no.1 focus.
However we have done so well so far that this game SHOULD have been given a proper go.
Resting our top striker, captain and talisman is quite honestly laughable ! Its 7 full days until the next match if you cant recover in that period of time then you shouldn't be a pro ! Even if he was on the bench and given 25 mins it would have lifted the team and could have rescued the result ?
The defence yesterday was make shift due to injurys, that is something that couldn't be helped, but i cant help feeling that Naughton & Whitbred could have made it but were held back for Man u.
Still gutted this morning, but we do still have plan A working well 7 the visit of Man u on Sunday !

Hi bors, this is a road we have travelled before, the road to Wembley is now closed to us. Leaves us with making progress to our true aim, retention of Premier League status.

Every game has its pros and cons. Against is the loss of a trip to Wembley with the financial reward that would have brought. There is the loss of prestige, losing at home to a Championship side (which incidentally we beat twice last season).
Also is the disappointment of our fans anticipation of possibly making that trip to Wembley.

It is a bit more difficult to find anything to be said in favour of losing to Leicester. Lambert will at least have learnt a bit more about his players and allow assessment of their capabilities should they be needed during the rest of the season.

Yesterday was not just a reflection of the manager's team selection, or the fans disappointment. It was also about the squad's inability to overcome adversity. I personally feel that the resting of Holty showed a marked deficiency in effort to correct Leicester's victory.

Like RBF said, no player sets out to lose, just that the quality and effort on the day was insufficient to overcome a very competent Leicester team.

We now have to prepare for the visit of Man Utd. This will test the resolve of our players to continue our progress along the Premier League road.

I do agree with most of what's been written about this. I just find it hard to believe that David Fox, one of the best passers of a ball in the Prem this season, 'managed' to pick out blue shirts rather than yellow numerous times yesterday.
I'm sorry, but you do not lose the ability to pass the ball to a colleague overnight and as such, it's a 'fingers up' to the almost full house who paid £25 each to witness the debacle unfold.
We know Wes can destroy most opponents with the ball at his feet and yet yesterday for 75 minutes he, too, gifted possession back to Leicester every time he got the ball.
Back to (clearly much) more pressing matters like league points next weekend. Let's hope they spend some time during training brushing up on such complex skills as 'spotting a team mate and completing a pass to him'

Apologies, rant over, final word on an insipid and utterly clueless performance.

Hi all, I have never posted on here before now although I always read the latest posts and follow the banter etc. However I am incensed at the number of negative comments being thrown at PL and the team. I just want to agree with every thing that stilljarroldcanary has written. WAKE UP ! We are in the Premier League! Too many of the whingers and moaners have very short memories. OTBC ILWT.

Welcome IoWC - you are right and so are the moaners right! We have come an awful long way in two and a half years, but that display yesterday was horrendous, from players who should have done better, indeed HAVE done better in the past!

Of course our main concern at the start of the season was to avoid relegation, but having virtually achieved that, and most big boys out of the cup, we were hoping for a better showing against mid-table Championship opposition!

woah relax mate. Surely when the draws made we can look forward to someone beating Leicester.

I mean, If they get Stoke and David Nugent "Somehow" got every bone in his body broken wouldn't that just be a "tragedy"

Can anybody explain to me - if this holy grail of 40/42 points is the be all and end all of our season, what the hell was the point of beating Burnley and West Brom in previous rounds, just to surrender a potential trip to Wembley in such meek, abject style yesterday?

Prioritorise all you like, but explain that tactic, please <doh>

I don't know about you but 40 points has no meaning anymore. A top half finish for me would represent the greatest achievement in our recent history and certainly the best under lambert. If your talking financial there is £750000 up for grabs for every position above 17th. That is club changing money for this football club. The Cup will always be there and we will get other shots. It was a crap performance but theres nothing else that can be done now.

Lambert played it right in my eyes. He fielded a team he believed would be able to beat Leicester. They didn't because they played crap. Thats all that can be said really. Luckily we don't have to put up with it every week, these performances are few and far between
