Morning all, any chance of Chippy being optimistic or has his head been totally fooked off by Cellino. Sick about Cook but seems it was always going to happen and irrespective of how we feel about Cellino he couldn't match wages or ambition of B/Mouth. I'm looking forward to seeing Roofe, Antonnson and Wood together. I'm happy with Grimes as a replacement for Cook and if the other newbies work out I think we'll have our best season for years. Not sure its good enough to go for top 6 yet, but if some cash spent on Birdcutt and a couple more you never know. We are relying on Monk being a top prospect, and in Chippyspeak he could be another dog but on big wages. Taylor situation is bad though as he has not signed a new deal, we don't know what the new deal was but I believe a lot of our kids are slightly peed off with the way Lucy Ward was treated, as afterall they grew up with her. Just saying
The rumour this morning Doc is that we are after someone called Rico Henry from Walsall for around 1.5 million. So an obvious replacement for Taylor if it happens. If for whatever reason Taylor doesn't want to be here, then I reckon it's better he goes. We don't want an unhappy young player hanging around an extra year waiting for a move. Better to cash in and move forward with a half decent replacement. Yes, the whole thing of losing Byram, Cook and Taylor sucks, but we are unfortunately lower in the food chain than teams like Bournemouth at the moment just the same as Oxford are below us and why we got Roofe. So possibly 3 more signings to come (Osman, Ekstrand and Henry) and maybe Bridcutt as well. I don't think we can be too unhappy with all the incomings if we can land the few extra players mentioned.
Johnny agreed with all of that. Italians have all gone except Marko but he's on his way which just leaves Cellino. Is Murphy going to be showing why he was so highly thought of or will he too be sold as never going to be good enough. The Acadmy is dead and buried and if we send out the kids who just got contracts, we wont have an U21 squad or reserves team except for those still here who are never going to get on Monks bench. Morning all. Losing Cook is a bit disappointing. Losing Taylor would be equally as bad if it happens. But we seem to be getting plenty of decent incomers. So it might all balance out. Time will tell.
I agree with you regarding Murphy Doc. He seems like the sort of player who would never be up to playing 30+ games in a genuine push for promotion/play-offs if required. Although maybe the new coaching team can get more out of the players than what we have previously seen. One thing for sure, we should have a strong bench this season with the likes of Cooper/Bartley, Mowatt, Antonsson, Sakho etc... Players who can go for me if we get these other signings are..... Bamba Murphy Doukara Erwin The first three should free up enough wages to bring in someone with a bit of quality.
Not sure I fully agree with you 757. Murphy has plenty more to give. If he stays, Bamba needs to step up back to where he was when he was at Leicester. As to Doukara and Erwin, Erwin's going out on loan to get game time and show what he can deliver at a level up from SPL/Scottish footy in general. Doukara is definitely a spent force. So best he moves on

Doc, Johhny757, agree with much of what you're saying. With regards to Cook? A class act surrounded by bog average players will never get us promoted. Lose the class act and up the average, at least you have a chance with decent motivation. Taylor will go. Rico Henry was vying with Cook for FL Player of the Year, so if we get him we're probably sorted and quids in. Looking forward to seeing the new boys in Dublin next week. Should be interesting.
