* Ricky Lambert for England... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23613462 * Hollowhead V's Bristol City... http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/story-19633978-detail/story.html#axzz2bNcqZg4b Wait for it, I can hear them coming and it's all thanks to them, the magnificent blue few.....
Fair play to rickie lambert. Worked his way up from Bristol Rovers to the premier league and now an England cap. It's the best news the sags will have all season
They'd say "we were right to hound him out the club in the early 00's, now 565655 managers later we are on the right track to mid table mediocrity in division 4" But if palace win, which they will do, I can picture it now.. And congratulations to Rochdale on making Ricky lambert, rovers just stuck him on the bench before realising he was actually a footballer, something they haven't seen for ages
Well in the years since Geoff Bradford it would be easy to forget what a footballer was. Though fair play their scouting network was for years far better than ours, we relied on the fact we had more fans therefore had more money so could buy the players we thought would do well for us. We forgot the lessons from the Alan Dicks era that scouting for good youngsters could pay big dividends, it has taken us til now to start getting our act together again started by Derek McInnis and carried on by Sean O'Driscoll. Whatever his faults and he had quite a few Delboy had the right idea in trying to kickstart the Academy into more than just an after thought, he would probably been a better Academy manager than a club manager until he got a bit more experience. The future is bright, the future is red and white. We now have the best academy in the West and South West and the club is trying to build it even further to attain Catagory 1 status which would mean that the Liverpools and Chelseas of this world wouldn't be able to waltz in and cherry pick our brightest talents they would have to pay proper compensation if they wanted one of the talents.
I agree Ricky Lambert deserves all the praise and recognition for his achievements by his own efforts, he wasn't helped by the shabby way he was bombed out of "gasland" for £1m, come to think of it they bombed or sacked Hollowhead and now claim him as a 21st century saint..
Its nice that an old fat bloke can still play for his Country, and i'm not talking about John Hartson. But for Rickie its no thanks to the rovers, as its only at Southampton he's got fit and lost 5 stone down to their training. Hollowhead, I don't want to go down that road talking about that little ****, but you'll get the few City fans that think he's fantastic, ****ers with short memories, I really hate the nasty little mouthy ****
