I've had my moan over the last couple of days about being frustrated at the lack of action. Sick to death of reading headlines every half hour about Leicester, West Ham and even Gus's Brighton stumping up a few million to grab C M-Smith from under QPR's nose. So the facts up to now are that we havn't a keeper because we took the money without planning a replacement. We let Killa and BJ go rather than give them new contracts, again without replacements lined up. Forest are in the frame for 8 new signings by Monday as Maclaren has got rid of 9 players, leaving how many other for us?

So without doubt either we cannot pay the going rate for wages, as proven by the fallen through deal with Preston because we couldn't afford their keepers wages ffs. Or we believe the usual rhetoric coming out of ER by SG/KB. We have targets and at least 4 new players coming in ...... I'm not too confident about that, because i'm sick of hearing it over the past couple of transfer windows.

So I've decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, and wait and see what happens. I suspect that the players we're chasing need to be confirmed or not in Prem squads. Until that happens we hang around. The only plus for me, is that we could be stronger this season even if we don't sign anyone, as we have White, Lees, Parker, Paddy, Clayton, Nunez back and SG is even giving Bessone another chance (Couldn't get rid) plus we should see a new McCormack, rather than wait all season for him.

I'll tell you one fact though; if we bring nobody in and we have a poor start to the season, there will be some flak aimed at Bates, which he'll deflect onto Simon with the usual 'Simon has my full backing', 'we have given Simon everything he's asked for' etc, etc, etc.

I'm glad we didn't give into Lonegran's wage demands. The guy just got relegated, and whilst I think he's a good keeper, no way should the club be paying wages that the management believe are too good for him. We want players who want to play for Leeds, not sit on the bench for Everton and get double the wages.

Aidy White and Nunez will feel like new signings providing competition on the wing, with Nunez also in the centre. Ben Parker was good in the 08/09 season and seemed like a reliable defender who was good going forward, and after 2 seasons of injury he deserves a chance. Who knows, maybe Bessone will come good. AOB and Kisnorbo sounds like a great centreback partnership. Adam Clayton might be good. So there's not a lot to worry about. If the club bring in their aim of 4 signings and they are of the quality needed, we'll be in the position to challenge for promotion again, and have a better squad than last season.

Spot on, it's just a tad frustrating seeing all the other teams dealing in the transfer market. I'm sure the deals will come rolling in next week!

Well the facts are that Kasper, Johnson, Kilkenny, Grella, Higgs and Naylor have gone and a crocked goalie from Blackpool has come in. We have 1 goalie, 9 defenders, 7 midfielders and 4 strikers. A squad of 20 is clearly not enough when at least three of those defenders aren't good enough either. Add four new players? We will need to sign four AND bring in some quality loans as well. To be honest, I think we need to get rid of Bessone, Lees, Parker, and bring in 8 new faces but I have no confidence that anything of the sort will happen.

i'm not to worried about the season coming as long as we get a another keeper and defence midfielder i believe that what we were missing last season a keeper who commands the box and defence something kasper lacks and a batty style midfield who can sit back and cleans up if the attack brakes down. Has for defence a intense pre season working together and they will be fine

"Forest are in the frame to sign 8 players"

So they haven't actually signed anyone yet then?

a follow on point= way sign loads of players, get promoted and have to let them go has they all wont be prem standard its a waste of money. Leicester havent sign quality players they have signed rejects that cant cope in the prem they have just skirted around the edge of prem team.

Parker...squad player and will play back up and walm the banch ..no need to get rid.
    Beesone....spot on..a shocker

    4 signings will do

With regard to our own players coming back, I'm in agreement with all. It will be a disaster as the players prove not to be good enough, or it'll be a stroke of genius and please Bates. Time will tell I suppose, but have we got time to wait?

The truth is Grayson is waiting to bring in 4 players but on Loan deals, as for the likes of Nunez, Clayton and co, well we should have been bleeding them in last season rather than some of the loan signings we were seeing. If that is the plan for the forthcoming season then it is a step back. For Bates to be talking of promotion, well he is in cuckoo land.

leeds60, I think there's no point in speculation, because we know how the club works. Lansbury is another player who's going out on loan, but will end up with Gus at Brighton. The players we manage to get (If any) are not good enough for the prem, are being sent out to get experience or are just plain crap and the club wants to get some of their wages paid, whilst running their contracts down. Lets face it, there's not many freebies left as they've all been snapped up. Those that are left will be has-been's as we've experienced too many times before.

If we bring nobody in it will be the fault of Bates, not Grayson, so we must get behind our players who come back. Hope that Lees is as good as his press, and White, Parker and Paddy do the stuff. Nunez must be a good shout for a run, and if he's as good as his press, we could do well.

But it's a massive gamble entering this season without new blood. Bates says he wants promotion, well how can we when our team on paper is only mid-table. Grayson says he wants an improvement on last season, well that would mean 6th, but don't think it's on. Mind you an improvement could mean we only concede 69 goals.
