Has anyone else picked up in the statements made by Pardew that he has an agreement with Ashley that the full 35 million will be spent on Transfers and WAGES this summer - therefore a new player on a 5 year contract at 50k per week = 13 million. Based upon that we could spend 9 million (4.5 million each) on 2 new players (Transfers 9 million, Wages 26 million). Now the question is who would you spend 4.5 or 9 million on, not who would you spend 35 million on.
Check this out Your forgetting wages free'd up by players leaving. Will leave us in a healthy position.
Yes, thought about that but with my current bout of pessimism I am looking for the holes in the statements rather than any silver lining. If I thought we would bring in 2 top quality strikers in the summer then this would have been a fantastic deal for us as I think even with AC in the side we were a quality striker short.
Your also forgetting the painfull fact that we might be playing in the championship again next season! I honestly can't see Ameobi and Best scoring anywhere near enough goals to get us results in enough games. Hope to hell I'm wrong but I just can't see it. Oh, and theres also the fact that Ashley says one thing and does another, he's not likely to change a habit of a lifetime anytime soon is he?
If we can offload Smith and Xisco it will free up around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã120K per week (I heard that they are both on around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã60k) However, I don't think that we will be paying that type of money to players any more, and suspect that the club are hoping that Graham Carr can unearth another couple of young gems that we can pick up for around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5 million and pay ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã25 k per week. If Ranger can take this opportunity and claim the striker's spot, then that will save the club even more cash.
