Well, it would seem Levy has realised the wage cap had to go, i have to say I'm still surprised at how its been smashed, Bale reportedly on 100k, and Ade's wages afforded, (How many wums said we couldn't? :)) I would mind betting he's on double what we're used to paying. Who'd have thought it a year ago!

Surely it's got to be due to this "investment" we keep hearing of, Notso? Levy wouldn't have just thought "**** it", surely?

Apparently bale is on £105k p/w with some sort of 35k bonus. (appearance I think)

Ade is apparently going to be on £115k p/w (the rest of his current wages being paid in the form of a signing on fee.)

Not sure how true any of the above is, but it's what i've read in a few places.

To get to the "next level" it had to change, i presume investment is incoming from somewhere as i dont think Levy is the kind to totally change from prudence to extravangance unless of course it was always there but didn't trust Harry to spend it wisely

  5. Yes, it had to happen.

However, it will almost definitely be tied up in the "blow your socks off" news that we are still waiting to have revealed to us. There is no way that Levy would have lifted the lid on our wage cap without there having been some major investment made.

All of this wage speculation is just that, though. Speculation.
The initial reports about Bale's contract, for example, had it down as a rise to £75k + performance bonuses.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Tottenham-contract-Luka-Modric-eyes-exit.html

Adebayor's wages were being dealt with via a one-off signing on fee, to cover the difference between what he'll receive and what he would've got had he remained for the final year of his deal at City.
The Sigurdsson suggestion came via a rather bitter Brendan Rodgers, who's since continued to moan about it.

I wouldn't be surprised if we were just continuing on with a similar wage structure, but the upper limit has increased a bit due to off-field success.
The more we earn, the more we can afford to pay.

Unusual of you to rely on the Fail!, if you google it mate more reports say 100, one says 80, but most say 100k, we'll never know for sure but I did hear Ade in the region of 115. Looks like whats being suggested here could easily be funded by Modrics sale, or investment. Must be confident of the income from either source to spend now though, unless somethings done but not announced yet for whatever reason.

I'd never rely on the Fail Notso, but the media seem to be creating something based purely on the back of other media sources.
They seem to have suddenly lost a source of inside information, for some reason... <whistle>

How long is Vertonghen's contract, for example? I can't see a reliable report of that anywhere.

    Even they're saying, "apparently", Croydon!

Don't we normally say how long a player's signed for when he joins, though?
Seems odd that it wasn't mentioned.
Undisclosed fees seem to be the norm, on the other hand.

We neglected to mention how long Saha was signed for, hence the confusion over whether it was a six-month or eighteen-month contract on this forum.

Why is it always the highest number that gets quoted? It's just as likely to be wrong as any other!

Since we delisted the need to be exact on players contracts has reduced.
