INJURY-HIT QPR Ladies bowed out of the FA Womenâs Cup with a third round defeat to Premier League side Portsmouth on Sunday. Charley Wilsonâs four-goal haul set Pompey on their way before Kirsty McGee added a fifth to seal the visitorsâ exit from the competition. Injuries proved costly for the Râs, whose plans were disrupted before kick-off as midfielder Sophie Fogarty sustained a torn hamstring in the warm-up. Boss Martino Chevannesâ misery was compounded with two more enforced substitutions by half-time. Striker Sarah Lovett suffered a suspected broken ankle while a blow to the head ended goalkeeper Sophie Cheadleâs afternoon early through concussion. Rangers were on the backfoot from the outset and Cheadle was helpless to Pompeyâs opener as a long ball caught the Râs backline on their heels. McGeeâs lob over the top released Wilson, who fired past the Râs number one with just eight minutes on the clock. The hosts quickly doubled their advantage on 16 minutes, as Wilson profited from Cheadleâs weak punch to stab home a second. A third wasnât far away as Rangers were hit on the counter-attack after Lorna Goverâs misplaced pass was intercepted by Shelly Cox. Coxâs driving run and pull-back from the left paved the way for Wilson to complete her hat-trick. Rangers battled bravely in the second period to restore some pride but couldn't force a consolation, instead gifting two further goals in the closing 16 minutes. Wilson headed home Gemma Hillierâs cross before McGee added gloss to the scoreline late on, smashing in a 25-yard free-kick to seal victory.
