Mixed views on the lad thus far. Is this a good idea or should he go back to Newcastle? http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footballnation/cardiff-city/cardiff-city-fc/2012/03/06/cardiff-city-to-extend-haris-vuckic-loan-deal-from-newcastle-united-91466-30465858/
taff, I've only seen him against West Ham so cant really comment after one game although he needs to get out of the 'time on the ball' mindset. Its good in principle as its an extra bod to have and we need as many as we can get at the moment.
H I've seen him play twice, albeit on TV and it's clear he likes time on the ball you won't get in the championship. He has admitted this publicly and says he likes the set up. So a good attitude as well, personally I think it's a good idea. As you state we need cover so the lads can rest but equally I think he could be a star turn given game time.
I'm not convinced but he has not had much game time yet. However, he needs a chance to settle into the hurly burly of our league. As said above we need fit bodies and he looks like he can play. He should impose himself more taking into account his size.
He must get better mustn't he? Not overly impressed up till now, but said before he needs time. Problem is, time is running out. Hmmm.......Kiss already on board and now Lawrence and Vuckic join the throng for midfield places. With Whitts, Cowie and Gunnar already in there, Conway on the bench, and Ralls and young Harris looking for a start, we seem pretty well covered for midfield - and that's without Stevey McPhail coming back into the frame. Now we need a target man and someone pacy out wide - am I asking too much?
Still not convinced about Vuckic but as we have given him some game time to aclimatise in the championship it makes sense to keep him and hope he could come good in the remaining games while allowing us to give others a break. I don't think Lawrence brings anything at all to the squad, but I hope I'm wrong.
Attacking rightsided midfielder though not pacy from what I've read. I'm ok with that though. Mason had a great game against Liverpool on the right and plays well just off the striker. Against WH he looked exposed when we lost the ball. He often drifted in field but couldn't get back when we turned the ball over leaving Kev over run (didn't help that he had a bit of an off game as well). Mason is learning his trade and needs to learn it in his preferred position. Miller needs a rest so we either need to find a similar replacement or if playing 442 look to use Earnie with Rudy (unlikely given he has another injury). If we can get one more in it needs to be a striker, if two, a striker and a winger. Whichever, it should be experience over youth. Vucik (? - too lazy to look it up), Miller and Ralls are all learning thier trade and Kiss, Rudy and Gunner barely out of nappies. 2 of these at most in the starting 11. We can't go with more youngsters.
He took his goal against Posh really well, shows some promise but need too much time on the ball. I'll keep him though.
I'd say there are only 3 first teamers who are SLOWER Lawrence - Taylor, Huds and Whitts. Taylor looks like he's just finished his first packet of 20 ***s of the day if he runs more than 20 yards. Huds can get up a head of steam alright, but so can an oil tanker after half an hour. Whitts has got security lights at his home that detect body movement. He's been living there for three years and he hasn't set them off yet.
vukcic, he's not really someone you'd trust to play in a midfield 2, just as well we've got a bit of bite in midfield in gunnarsson and cowie, who often tucks in. as others have said, he's got a good build, but doesnt dominate the midfield, nice technique but perhaps a luxury player.. as for lawrence, he looks like a bit of a prick to me, what with his whitened teeth etc. as for his play, he plays right midfield for ireland, has decent experience, and puts a good ball into the box. if he's playing RM then it allows malky to make changes as cowie can play anywhere in midfield, we have conway too so there are now real options from the bench
you don't need to have teeth to be a prick. Never liked this one since Anfield in '77 please log in to view this image
Taff Half right - he's 30 (born December 1981) but has been injured. Malky hopes he will be involved tomorrow. However, striker and fast, wide man still needed. More redundancies due at Rangers, must be some pickings there. The 2 so far are midfielders.
I think that is where we are in general. We have a lot of good players, but we need a couple who can set the game alight. Whitts is still the only one who can do something special, and he seems to b playing a more defensive role now. Other teams around us seem to have two or three players who can turn it on. We need the whole 11 to perform at their tip top each week to compete at the top end. A big ask.
