Schwarzer, Grygera, Baird, Hangeland, Riise, Dembele, Sidwell, Murphy, Dempsey, Zamora, Johnson. Subs: Etheridge, Kelly, Ruiz, Duff, Hughes, Etuhu, Frei. Looks like a strong team, nice to see Grygera come back. COYW
Absolutely bloody useless. Jol out and he can take his useless signings with him. And please don't come on and say we are improving or there are encouraging signs - because things are clearly not right. This guy is worse than SANCHEZ!
While I won't be so rash as to call for Jol's head yet (who else could we get mid-season?), my faith in the team is rapidly diminishing. I would be quite happy for us to get knocked out of Europe if it means we can fully focus on the league.
Mark Hughes anyone? As for Europe I agree! As for Zamora, if he can't score this simple one then he is welcome to hand in his transfer request! Had enough of players complaining and then given the chance they €Â¥$> it up!
While I won't try and say we're ok, there are positives to be taken from today: Ruiz got his goal, and we were only beaten by two very late goals. That's about it though.
When your team draws or loses week in week out ,THERE ARE NO POSITIVES. We are 2 pts from the bottom of the premiership. JOL is a joke, there is just no method or play in his team planning, watching todays match for us this should have been a three pointer.
Give him a bit more time everyone. Two games ago we just beat QPR 6-0 and while in this game, stoke and krakow we've clearly not been good enough, you cannot blame jol for that zamora miss at the end which would have won it. I wasn't at the game today so can't comment on his tactics or our general performance but sacking jol before xmas would be madness, we're still in october for goodness sake! At least ruiz got a nice goal which should kick his season off. COYW!!!!!!!
QPR was different - they were awful. We've played Blackburn and Villa at home - both there for the taking we didn't. Again we haven't won away in the league....turned over today all sounds a little similar if you ask me. Im not sure booting out Jol is the solution. It just seems every player we have has ZERO form. Murphy so wasteful with the ball at his feet. He had to go off but did anyone know where they were playing? Dempsey our most attacking player in the first half making excellent runs went missing in the second half and I dont blame him. There was a lack of leadership out there that's for sure.
I think the worry of most fans including myself is that we can't win over middle to low table teams. These should be our bread and butter if we want to stay and be safe. We have failed miserably! I'm only joking when I say to bring Mark Hughes back but I enjoyed the team at second half of the season under his management. We have watched some good football under Jol in the earlier Europa League against weaker teams. We need to start putting points onto to the board! Anyway not time to discuss changes but if December comes and we are still closer to the bottom than top more questions will be asked. As for Murphy. His legs are gone. He can play 45 mins but that's it. Always wanted to bring O'Hara for that reason!
As a glass-half-full person, my frustration is why we are underperforming across the team. Frankly, Everton were there to be taken, yet we could not do the job. OK they went ahead with a speculative, but well-taken effort. Obviously the key turning point was Bobby's miss - it looked a banker after he'd done the work - Unbelievable! But the whole team couldn't gel, and I find myself agreeing that Danny is a weak-link in midfield. Sidwell does ok, and Dembele tried hard but is still not offloading quickly enough. Good to see Bryan score his goal, but as a result AJ was wasted on right-midfield (or whatever job Jol had given him to make space for Bryan) - he was so wasted, why not a double-sub Ruiz+Duff. A number of people have said we never seem to have a proper plan B, and maybe they are right. Keeping the faith, but it's becomeing a challenge!
No. No. No. This it's only mid october argument doesn't stand up. Act decisively and firmly. Absolute ruthlessness is the only way. Leave it until December and we'll be in a worse position than when Sanchez was working his magic - and Roy only just saved us by the skin of our teeth. I doubt if anyone else could have done that. So get rid now and give the new man a chance to start to shape the team. Then in January he can get rid of that tart Ruiz, Sa, and all the other rubbish that Jol has brought with him. If they can flog him back to the continent somewhere then perhaps Mo will let the new man spend the money he recoups. Jol is not good enough, he's had enough games and we've been, frankly, pathetic. There have been plenty of stories in the press of players arguing with him or being upset by him, he's destroying the club and has to go now. Personally I don't care who replaces Jol - could be Martin Allen, Steve McLaren or Rory bloody Bremner for all I care, just get rid of that big idiot.
I agree to some extent that Jol has not and will not,but i would be wary of handing the reigns over to, some of the aforementioned failures.lets recruit from within,Billy Mc,why not give him a try.
