Seems Ash isn't the only Swan who fancies a cuddle up with Rodgers. Saw Vorm quoted on the net yesterday saying that he always got on very well with Rodgers and would welcome a reunion with his former boss. I didn't bother posting about it but the same thing is being reported in the press today.

Vorm acknowledges that Reina is No 1 at the moment but his desire to link up again with Rodgers was scarcely disguised. He repeated that he felt we were a physically weak team that needed to introduce a lot more aggression to our game. Seems to me he is getting a bit fed up of other teams being allowed to line up and take pot shots at him and quoted the WBA game as typically one we should have won with our better football, but were muscled out of it.

Posters will know that that I agree with his view but I'm not going to rehash the issue again. I think it is now accepted as a matter of fact rather than something open to debate. We have a soft underbelly. Period.

Oddly, I'm not too concerned about Vorm going - always providing it's at the right price. Tremmel has shown he can step up and, if we can get £10/12 million for Vorm, we can buy a useful number two keeper for reasonable money and swell our transfer coffers even further. Thoughts?

fans are underestimating Brendan's relationship with our players, they appreciate just how much he did for them and how much they hold him in esteem....He was much closer to the players than what laudrup is showing and he was not afraid to mix it with the fans......I can see perfectly well why players want to play for him.......

I guess we just have to get use to this sort of thing ivor, a dutch international playing for a small team Will always attract attention . Anyway it's. The price of success isnt it?

I must also add that what vorm said is honest, he and any other will leave for a big club if it came, there is no shock there.

Don't worry guys, nothing to see hear.

Typical hymn from the holier than thou scouse press. They appear to believe that they are on a mission from God expecting all to believe their bull, bow heads and genuflect when the name 'Liverpool' is ever mentioned.

Vorms reply to their holier than thou bollox

dont you believe it they all say that..<laugh> Brendan was going nowhere just 24hrs before he was liverpools manager according to jenkins...<ok> nobody will know who is going where until the season is over....we cant even say for certain that laudrup wont be tempted away so its not worth worrying about on who comes and who goes until it happens....

Why would Vorm - who is competing for an active role, not a bench role, in the Dutch world cup squad - want to go somewhere where he would be riding the bench as a number two and kiss is international aspirations good-bye.

Yes Brenden was master of wanting to know all about the players lives and families, buddying up and showing them "compassion" when needed, things like taking days off here and there etc, etc. Its a very common form of management, straight out of the book in fact, dull players buy into it because they know no different, its a way of getting them to perform their tasks, building a personal bond means that players feel the need to not let their"friend" down in the heat of battle, pulling on the heart strings to call it a more basic thing.

Brenden is a good coach there is no doubt, he is also a good people person, all the spanish players that Laudrup signed say the same about him, so it tells you that every style of management has its place and has its results.

So far the results are that Laudrup won manager of the year and Brenden didnt and Laudrup won the league cup and breden didnt :)

2 different styles and impossible to say which one is the best, i suspect the players with the least mental toughness still need brendens tities to suck on where others are more professional than that and get on with the job of doing what they are supposed to do,win football matches and improve as players.

Vorm hasnt covered himself in glory since his injury but as i said earlier he was probably asked a pointed question and he gave an honest answer, brenden is at a top club and any swans player would leave us to go to a top club.

We can turn all this around actually, if brenden was manager here now and vorm was offered number 1 at Liverpool,Arsenal or Spurs would he stay with brenden or would he go ?? i think we all know the answer..<laugh>

If Ash was offered liverpool and brenden was here as manager would Ash stay ?? no, of course not!

I think that clears any of this rodgers bullshit up, its not so much the man as the club he is at, michu, chico, jdg, pablo and others are here for Laudrup but they would also struggle to turn down top 4 teams, though i get the impression the spanish boys show more loyalty in their football ethos than any British players do.

Torres would never sign for Madrid because of his love for athletico.
Michu wouldnt sign for oviedo's rival because of his love for them, even dropping down a division instead of moving !

Alot of the British players get talked into moves that are for the benifit of their agents, i said it in my article about ash going to arsenal, ash playing for wales is the player Liverpool or arsenal would be getting, average at best and lacks the height as Ivors recent stats tend to show, ash does great for us so does vorm but im over all these player rumours now anyway, if they go we get good money and we replace with better for half the price,id like them to stay but i feel they are replacable.

Brenden will gamble his own future on signing Ash williams ?? thats what it will come down to if he spunks away his summer transfer funds on Swansea players and how does all this fit in with FSG tranfer policy of signing players of a certain age ??

It will be an intresting summer, if rodgers rapes the swans once again it will tarnish his reputation with us and the liverpool fans, i think he is deluded enough to do it too..<laugh>

We are coming into silly season and there will be alot of stuff going on, i wouldnt be suprised to see 1,2 or even 3 players leave in the summer, anything could happen!

Im happy with what we have got and i beleive 99% that Laudrup will be here to oversee us into the new season,i beleive this will be a big advantage to us as well, last seasons pre-season could not have been worse with players throwing toys out the pram because laudrup wouldnt tickle their balls in the showers and tell them how beautiful their penises were like breden used to do!! the bedding in process has been done now and the likes of Ki and Pablo ,lamaar and some of the new signings will all be focused on the task in hand not worrying about if the manager is able to cut it.

Quotes from Vorm, not the gospel according to the Liverpool echo (their Evenning Post)

“The comments that came out of the interview from the Dutch press have been lost in translation,”

“They asked me about Brendan, and I said I enjoyed working under him. Of course I did, he was the man that brought me here and we had a successful season"

“But I did not say I wanted to go to Liverpool or anywhere else – I am very happy here at Swansea. Not once have I told my agent or the Chairman Huw Jenkins that I want to leave here"

“And the Barcelona story was a shock to me. It’s quite funny when I think about it, because I had a couple of days free so I wanted to fly somewhere close and sunny, so my family went to Barcelona"

“I had a great time with my wife and my two kids. We went to Barcelona Zoo, but I can tell you we were not buying souvenirs at the Camp Nou,”

“This season has been incredible for us,” added Vorm. “We are doing so well in the league and, of course, we won the Capital One Cup which means we are playing in Europe next season....I’ve played European football before and it will be great for everyone at this club – the players, staff, directors, supporters and also the city of Swansea.....Everyone is looking forward to being a part of that adventure – myself included – but first of all we must ensure that we finish this season strongly"

“A lot of good, hard work has been put in by us all, so we can’t let our season fizzle out"

“Saturday’s game with Southampton will be tough, but I think with the Jack Army really singing their hearts out we can get a good result....That will put us back on track as we look to reach 50 points.”

C'mon you Jack b'stards, make louds noise tomorrow and help our boys over the finish line.

Stumpy- great to read those comments but of course its fair to say that none of our players would be blamed for wanting to go to a top 4 club, its the nature of the beast when your a small successful club, im happy that Vorm has nipped all this in the bud though, the negative press around such things doesnt help the team IMO.

I know Norway and hopefully after one more season in the prem, and if we survive the drop we will be able to drop the 'small club' tag. If we can finnish mid-table next year we'll be an established prem club, hopefully, then, the "big boys" and lazy press will go pick on someone else.

    lol stumpy!

I Agree, there will always be a food chain but i think if we can become established then teams will know they have to pay top dollar and would then begin to scope elsewhere, for this to happen though our wage structure will have to move inline with our progress, no matter what alot of these players say alot of it comes down to cash and i dont blame them one bit. If Vorm is on 40k a week here with the local standard of living thats like 50k a week up in the smoke, all of a sudden we become a comfortable place to be both on the playing front(first choice) and the financial front.

That will take longer to acheive than one extra season though,we could only think about those kind of wages if we were filling 32k a week , its something im sure the board will be exploring the longer we can stay up <cheers>

And some or should that be 1 fan is underestimating the relationship that a certain ML has with the players, even to the extent that is why some signed for us.

Debate going on talk sport about Rodgers being replaced by Raffa at Liverpool.

A comment made was that a dog could manage Liverpool to 8th with current batch of players.

Another comment was that if Raffa doesnt take over in the summer then Rodgers has till Christmas to prove himself as nothing less than fourth next year will do.

I know this is about Vorm but Ash has a lot to concider if he wants champions league next year and with this in mind, surely Arsenal would be the best bet for him.

    Watch this space I think
