will be back in full force for the next few games when they will be boosted by the long lost Tucker who will be home on leave with a new song......
readind up on the shots fans views it was dissapointing to here that they thought our support was quiet.we sang our hearts out and it was definately noisy in the left side of the terrace, maybe we should have the away end as some have suggested at least you can hear the fans singing in there
It's an interesting debate Rocky. On Saturday, because of my job, I was sat in the BNU stand nearest the away end. I don't doubt that you were singing constantly, but to be honest at the time it seemed to me that our home crowd was even quieter than usual. I do think acoustics have a part to play in this. Two examples why: 1) The best noise from wwfc on Saturday came when the Woodlands stand started a 'come on Wycombe' chant. On the very rare occasion that the Woodlands sings, the noise is excellent. 2) The away stand has far better acoustics than the home terrace - I'm almost certain of this. Whenever I sit in my usual ST seat, in the BNU stand closest to the home terrace, I can still hear the away fans very clearly, and even a couple of hundred can make a great deal of noise. A possible solution to this would be to relocate the away fans. I don't think many terrace regulars would want to give up their right to stand, so if relocation were to take place it would involve putting the away fans either in the BNU stand, or somewhere in the Woodlands upper or lower tiers. So from that, perhaps the club could relocate away fans to the current family stand (woodlands lower tier), which is similar to the arrangement at Molineux, home of Wolves. The current away stand would then be open to wwfc fans. However, there are potential problems with this: 1) Spreading the few fans we get over a larger area could make the atmosphere worse. 2) I think many family stand STH would be up in arms, quite rightly, about being forced to move from some of the best seats in the ground with regard to views. 3) If the away fans stood up it could block the view of box holders just behind them, and cause confrontations. 4) It would mean the maximum tickets that can be sold to away teams would decrease, by about 300 - losing the club more money. 5) I think there is some sort of legislature or a clause which states that apart from community days, or occasions were permission is granted (eg Notts County 2009), the current away stand is for away fans only. Taking all that into account, personally I think the current arrangement is the best we've got. The most practical and workable solutions for me are (here comes another list): 1) Keep the current stand situation the same. 2) Rebuild the Valley terrace roof to project noise 'out', as opposed to stifling it. 3) Singing section in upper right Woodlands perhaps? 4) Get more people to sing, more often. Thoughts?
a new roof i dont think is an option and if we do move to booker it would def be a no go,but if we stay i cant see the club forking out for a new roof in this financial climate so i guess we are stuck with what we have got.
I've read a few comments about Rocky and co singing their hearts out on Saturday, which I do not doubt for a second. But I sit on the end of block R in Frank Adams, so only one block from the end by the terrace, and I honestly barely heard a thing most of the game. It's a debate that comes up regularly about how poor the acoustics are in the valley compared to the away end. I would have no problem in doing a straight swap of home and away ends and I don't think it being seated will be an issue as most away fans stand up all game in there anyway. But this is all easy for me to say as I don't stand on the terrace anymore. I'm sure the regulars there will have very different opinions to me and at the end of the day it's their area so they should be given a choice if this issue was to go any further. However there is no chance of any development to the stand being done. I'm not sure about putting away fans in the Woodlands as it'll cause segregation issues as well as the other reasons JS has mentioned. Also, I like grounds where the away fans are behind a goal as it adds to the atmosphere. Out of interest, does anyone know how many fans the valley can hold?
i would have thought about 1200 but i read somewhere it is limited to 900 because of some planning law
If that's all it holds then there's no way the club would swap them over as the loss of revenue will be huge when the bigger teams come to town. It might just be me, but I think that bloody music after a goal makes the crowd celebrations quiet down sooner too.
i am with you on that one i hate the music after a goal we are getting more like the yanks everyday, just look at the superbowl at half time they have a pop concert could you imagine that at adams park it would drive you mad.
That would be awful, although I wouldn't mind the yanks sending over some of their cheerleaders for half time though!
There should be microphones hanging from the terrace roof conected to the PA system if thats to expensive just put them on the left side as the right doesn't sing anyway
well said guy even some of the right side have come over to us on the left because we make more noise
slasher just heard from blue soldier he has only got 365 miles to go and he will be at barnet ....happy days he should be there by 7pm
The simple fact is that the acoustics in the terrace are poor, but the other glaring point is that there is only a very small minority in the terrace that actually make any sustained effort to sing (I would say around a group of 40-50), the whole terrace needs to participate for a good atmosphere. I think a terrace should remain an option for our supporters & relocating has too many problems with it. Keep the arrangement as it is, get the drum back and get people singing. Easier said than done , obviously
