Has had a couple of shaky moments since returning from the gooners, most notably in our FA Cup outings. Notwithstanding, he's now had five consecutive clean sheets in the league, a feat unsurpassed by the Tigers since 1908. I think he's the ideal candidate to become the permanent keeper we've been looking for since Myhill left to complement our exceptional back four. I know that Vito has hinted that he might be interested in a permanent move but how much would he cost, given that he apparently signed a new long term contract with Arsenal last Summer?
He's never gonna be in Arsenal's plans anymore - reckon we should be able to get him for between 300-500k.
I think we'd be looking at £800k-£1.2m. He may make errors but he makes up for that by stopping shots than many other Championship keepers wouldn't, and he'd be perfect for our next permanent keeper. People were screaming injury prone not so long ago, I don't know his injury history but if they're basing it on last season then it's foolish - he was injured, then brought back when he was only about 60% ready as he was by far our best option, then aggravated it.
Every keeper makes mistakes but with Mannone he makes plenty of good saves to outweigh the mistakes. If we could get him permanently in the summer I would be delighted.
5 consecutive clean sheets in the league, not sure there's any need to change the keeper aside from any injuries.
Would you honestly drop anyone in the back 5( keeper included) when we are on our best defensive run for over a hundred years?
If we make a decent offer we should get him, the Arsenal fans give him no credit for anything, I was talking to some on here a few weeks back. For my money if he was given a proper chance at Arsenal he would make it for them, and I wouldnt trust Wsecensy (sorry for the spelling) in the big games after the League Cup final debacle last year.
not quite. the op said this run has only been surpassed once. he didn't mention other runs of five games of which there have been several.
Yes, he's young and if we manage to get him on a permanent he may become our keeper for a very long time.
szczesny has been outstanding for them this season (and much of last). mannone made the number of mistakes in one game (v Olympiakos) that szczesny has in about 18 months. there's no doubt szczesny is rated far and away arsenals best keeper. for what its worth, i think we'd have an excellent chance of getting mannone permanently in the summer, he clearly enjoys it here.
I thought Mannone only made the one mistake vs Olympiakos? The others were Fabianski before being brought off injured (I think)
I think we will get him so long as they get an offer in quick enough. As for Szczesny, I'd like to see how he does in a few more high profile games, will watch the match tonight v Milan v starters, he will probably play a blinder after I posted this!
