I don't know what all the fuss is about. People are going on like he made world class save, after world class save tonight. He was good. Not outstanding, Liverpool didn't give him enough to do, in all honesty.
I wouldn't say he made save after save. He made a couple of vital stops and Liverpool seemed unable to hit the target on a couple of attempts.
At the risk of sounding condescending, you played with a lot of fight and effort. You were never likely, in my mind, to get a result today but the fight shown should be taken as a positive. You'll beat Villa if you perform to that standard. Borini looked decent, M'Vila was the stand out performer and Watmore, although raw, has enough about him to frighten a sub standard side like Villa. Lens was shocking. Made one attempt at competing when he first came on but his lack of application is Sissokoesque! A lot needs to be done to ensure safety BUT I wouldn't feel comfortable commenting on survival chances until the end of Jan (although I do think you will stay up, purely because you always do!)
The squad is far to light at the moment, we are literally about 7 or 8 players short to get us through the season. We are on the bones now, did you see our first team and bench tonight. I ****ing cringed mate. I'm massively worried about the Villa game, mate. I'm worried about playing anybody with the defence that we have at the moment. Although it was only 1-0 tonight, Liverpool were very comfortable and won the game at a canter. ****ing hell, I'm depressed tonight.
And Sunderland? 2 clear opportunities in the first half. One saved by mig the other just wide. And a couple of decent chances for us second. Although benteke really should be shot with **** fir missing that breakaway chance! How he got motm is beyond me
Are you talking about Defoes left foot shot from 20 yards out and Borini's quick spin and shot from the corner? I wouldn't say they were clear opportunities mate... Agreed about Benteke, he didn't really have a big impact on the game.
They weren't really opportunities that were as clear cut as Liverpools. Liverpool themselves were no great shakes but they could have walloped you.
Na, disagree with that. Liverpool haven't got enough about them at the moment to 'wallop' teams. Apart from the goal, they hit the post and missed a 1 on 1. That was it really. Wasn't like they were bombarding our goal with shots, fella.
Stat attack: Liverpool have attempted 301 shots in their 19 matches, only three teams - Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham - have had more. But the Reds have the third lowest shot-to goals ratio. Their tally of 10.94% is only superior to Swansea (10%) and Aston Villa (9.8%)
I have it in my head that there was more..... Perhaps the heavy festive drinking has addled my brain . Anyway speaking of drinking, I'm off! Time to crack on. Any posting I foolishly put on here are to be considered drunken ramblings. All the best mate. Happy new year to you and yours! This goes out to everyone. Take care and I hope you all have a great night!
