Another simple question. Are the Addick supporters reactions to Bob the builder being appointed first team coach visceral or well founded? This was going to be a public vote to weed out the visitors votes but I then decided that the Wall wouldn't understand what visceral means. AllHell
If Riga had failed this appointment would have still been underwhelming. But seeming Riga was a brilliant fit, this appointment is madness.
Hugely well founded. Nothing against Big Bob, he could turn out to be the messiah (his record suggests he wont) but the reasons why both Powell and Riga were dismissed points to him being no more than RD's puppet and it stinks.
Visceral (after having Googled the definition) Bob hasn't done anything yet. Although it is obviously hugely underwhelming but still; he gets time to prove himself though that time will be short because of the recent past.
Visceral, just googled it. Just like when Dowie and pardew were appointed, although in pardew's case it was also because he had previously been red-carded for spitting at an opponent. In Bob's case it's just a gut feeling that it won't work. I fully supported the appointment of Uncle Les, by the way, so let's hope I'm wrong again.
Well founded. Three managers now since January. The previous two were told to play Network players. Both refused, on the grounds that they were cack. Both lost their jobs. Either Peeters is a genius punt by RD of Wenger proportions, or else he has been hand picked from obscurity to toe the line. My money is on the latter.
Or it could be simply because he's the cheapest option, who knows? It certainly isn't because of his record. Mind you, a manager can fail at one club and succeed at another, even Bill Shankly wasn't a great success before he found his spiritual home at Anfield. Whenever I go on the OS and see that picture of Bob I think "Please God no" which is hardly scientific I know, which is why it's visceral for me.
It's not a reaction to Bob, good luck to the bloke. So long as he's honest with his masters about who he will and won't play. The reaction is well founded in the sense that another good man has fallen by the wayside in Riga. Regardless of people's feelings about Powell it seems the reason neither of these guys are still in post is their lack of willingness to play network players as opposed to results on the pitch. The fear therefore, is that Peeters will be a Yes man for the network. His "arrival" on the same day as the Dyer interview hasn't helped people's perception of him. I wish Bob all the best and cling to the vague hopes that Roland Rat will either wake up to the fact that Charlton in the Premier League would provide the network with access to more cash than Standard Liege ever will OR he'll give up on us and sell us to a kindly billionaire Charlton fan with a poor financial advisor and no heirs.
This isn't necessarily your own opinion of Builder Bob but your feeling of how Addicks in general are taking the news..... after all this is what Wyn Grant has heard
I think this appointment is about the cheap option, and a nodding dog... As ever our fortunes lie in the hands of the owner... I'll react to Peeters on what he does with the players at his disposal, but it's the quality of those players, come August which concerns me most of all...
A young manager, has played in this division, knows the area, scored against Palace, speaks Belgium and English - ticks all the required boxes Plus he's the right colour for the Charlton Pastry Defence League
