Ok so the title sounds a little dodgy but there is a real piece of news behind it
    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91924
So can we take this as final confirmation that the CFD approach has failed and they admit that. Whatever ever the case Wirth Reserch are gone and Pat Symonds will "heading up" the 2012 car plans.

I can see why this has happened and i think Virgin had to try something. They have fallen way behind Lotus and if anything have made a step backwards. To be fighting with HRT is embarrassing for them. We will now have to wait and see how this change affects their fortunes because i can't see them staying in the sport long on their current path.

Well something had to be done, whether this is it only time will tell.

CFD is a powerful tool which can be used on many things. But as with all theoretical research, experimental data must also be used to make sure your doing it right. (showing my physics side there <laugh>)

The Virgin is terrible - weak aerodynamics and awful mechanical grip - CFD has failed -- and they can't put up a serious challenge with such a low budget anyway. If they want to take F1 seriously, maybe Pat Symonds is their best option.

I'll start supporting them when they stop relying on pay drivers.

I wonder if Glock will move somewhere else next year. He's too good for them.

The only value Virgin brings to F1 is comedic value when commentators says something like "Alonso is held up by a Virgin". Apart from that they are pretty useless, they are slower than they were last season and they do not seem to have much ambition to improve.

Am trying to think when Nick Worth actually designed a fast F1 Car?

He designed the Simtek's (slow), Benettons from around 1998-2000 (slow), then the Virgins (slow).

Has he done anything notebale in F1 where he actually got results?

    I couldn't agree more.

I've been very disappointed with Virgin Racing's performance. It seems they were doing a much better job when Branson was making high-profile appearances. Coincidence? - I'm sure it's a false mirage but enthusiasm has evaporated like a puddle in the Sahara…

CFD is useful, but clearly doesn't work on it's own. Why did Virgin think they'd mastered a great idea, if the big teams don't solely use it? If Hispania and Lotus can afford to use wind tunnels, so can Virgin

I hope whoever takes over is called Richard something or other, then we can have a thread "Dick enters Virgin"

On the off-chance that they employ someone who has an atrocious sporting record bordering on criminal I'd prefer to go with "Virgin and the Ridiculous."

Can't they borrow one of Branson's jets, back it up to the car, wind the engines up and viola, instant wind tunnel........of sorts, (showing my engineering side there).

I think top gear did something like that to. I remember a 2CV going flying.

    Here's Glock's opinion of things.

I think he should just cut to the chase and admit he hates it there and wants to move to Ferrari and replace Massa!
