Itâs the time of the Year for Baubles. And ten years ago a firm favourite of the Captainâs was in the running for one. please log in to view this image In 2002, Fulham midfielder Junichi Inamoto was in the field for the prestigious "Ballon d'Or". It was eventually won by Ronaldo, and Junichi had to settle for tieing in 27th spot - with the likes of Beckham, Giggs, Kluivert, Totti, Trezeguet, Vieri and Wiltord. Pretigious company indeed. Watch him in this video link, scoring a goal to be remembered in a game that is certainly remembered: http://www.soccerclips.net/videos/manchester-united-1-3-fulham-junichi-inamoto
I've told this story before (hence Cottager's allusion to me), but my first son was born a couple of days after that 3-1 win. I tried persuading Mrs Captain that Inamoto would make a good middle name, but she wasn't having it. Number 1 son is now, of course, a huge Fulham fan himself and tells me from time to time that he wishes I'd talked Mrs Captain round.
