This has to be good news and continues the positivity coming out of the club since the January transfer window closed and the deal with Sam Hamman sorted. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35540163
he`s bringing the level of debt down massively lately.........no more fking sam......and all this with some including myself not putting a penny for the last couple of years into the club we grew up with.........................MY HATS OFF2 TAN AGAIN......maybe I and others should get up off our arses and start backing the boys in blue again..... for the news tiger
That is brilliant news, fair play to Tan and Slade they have done well to bring the debt down from £174m to under £110m. I know it's only pocket money to Tan but to wright off another £10m is not chicken feed to the club. Once he puts £68m into equity he would have done all he promised. Thanks Vincent Tan. Aber is 100% right we owe him big time.
Sorry didn't see this thread before posting mine. I'd guessed this news would be at the top! ****ing brilliant news.
Very well done Mr.Tan, maybe his reason for not doing this before now was because of the Langston debt and not knowing what would happen with that?
Well! Hindsight is 20:20 vision but I guess if he HAD converted earlier, there would have been a better chance for Sam to get more out by forcing administration since debt figure higher than equity. But the man has kept his word and should be received gratefully. It DOES seem as if he still has the interests of the club at heart. As Aber says, tiemto get right behind the club. Not sure what can be done from Germany but I shall think of something.
Better late than never; perhaps he could have come good on his promise a lot earlier but at least now he has, but equally as important, explain what he did on all things City related a long time ago rather than keep us fans in the dark. I have written off this season, there is too much of a gap between City and eg Sheff Wed & Ipswich etc and I just can't see City going on a 4-5 match winning run that they need to break into the top 6. Too many points dropped against low teams at home will do us on the end. Games v Burnley, Derby, Boro, Ipswich & Sheff Wed are just not winnable. Next season may be more realistic even though the league will have the likes of Villa, S'land, Norwich etc possibly whereas this season there have been no big clubs to bully the division; a missed opportunity which with hindsight Tan should have dealt with a year who not now.
Nin - I agree completely about the dropped points against lower opposition and all the 2-0 leads lost at home will cost us a play off place. The quality of sides getting relegated is an interesting one. Villa look awful even by Championship standards. Who else is coming down is still a bit of a mystery. Last season Burnley and Hull kept their squads and most importantly their managers. They had continuity, added a bit and it's shown as they're both right in the mix. QPR have followed the chop and change route and despite the undoubted quality in the squad they're worse than us Chairmen around the country should be watching the example set by Hull and Burnley imo, there's no doubt standing by their proven managers at this level, with the squads they've built has worked for them. WOL did a pointless predictor article and ended up with us on 70 points. As a general rule I thought they were a bit too optimistic about our away chances whilst being a bit pessimistic about our home form. What it 'shows' though is we're in a position where a reasonable run will put us very close to the bottom of the play offs, whilst a good run will probably see us there. My head says we'll finish where we've been all season 8th to 10th, my heart says we'll storm up the division and have our best ever day at Wembley. Macheda hatrick for the win
Well done Mr Tan, i hope the missing thousands turn up a week saturday for the Brighton match, i have 4 guests from brighton making the journey as they treated my son and I really well down there earlier in the season, and another mate of mine is entertaining another 5 also. So there's 9 extra on the figures. Will be in the granstand for that one, with a view to moving there next season as i have had a guts full of the family stand and so has my 17 year old son. The future is bright the future is Cardiff.
Isaw! With the best will in the world, I hope your guests go home disappointed with the result but very happy at the welcome you will have laid out for them. As for the missing thousands, I doubt they will have the moral fibre to admit that Tan has delivered and return with glad heart! Stevo, I love your heart more than your head..... and if we get to Wembley, I'll make a special trip!! 28 May, 5 pm it seems.
wonder if the missing thousands would turn up for a date at wembley? the future is looking bright lads, let's enjoy it
I hope my guests go home disappointed also, but i hope its a good day, hopefully the missing thousands will also swallow thier pride, stop listening to the self appointed fans leaders and grow a pair and turn up next saturday, i remain sceptical they will, but i hope i am proved wrong, if 20,000 turn up that would be a result.
It's not odd but worth a comment. When VT does or says something off the wall or his arguments with Hammam, the press, FA, Malky or others creates news, our friends down west are all over us like a rash. However, now he does something positive where are they? Not a peep from them so far although this post may bring out a few. Best to get retaliation in first!!!
Tan don't do anything for nothing. He still owns cardiff lock stock and barrel and can cash in at anytime......he is trying to get the thousands of fans back and i doubt very much that will happen, fans are not that stupid....
Yeah, because 4-6k Championship tickets, 24 times a year, will get him his £80m back in no time............ He's not doing it for nothing. He wants a stable club that he can get promoted to the PL. With a decent ground and huge catchment area he has the potential to then make a profit. He needs to sort the debt, get promoted, stay there for a while (obviously in that order). He's doing the first bit, it'll be interesting to see how he approaches the next step. The last 2 seasons have been about undoing some massive mistakes, a playing squad of 50 with loads who weren't worth anything like the investment that had been committed to in terms of transfer value and contract. You can't fix that overnight. For all his faults Slade has sailed a steady ship considering, other relegated clubs have been ruined by similar situations. There's a feeling on this board Slade can't take us to the next level, I'm inclined to agree. It'll be interesting to see what the summer brings as we've dropped too many points when we've been the better side to make the playoffs this season.
I thought I would get at least one on the hook. No surprise it is Dai. As for Tan "cashing in at any time". At the present who is going to buy him out? It will be more attractive once he capitalises the promised debt plus write offs leaving the club with around £40m in loans. But any buyer will also need to buy Tan's shares - say around £80/90m once the share transfer is done. Is there a queue forming? Stevo sums it up very well. Tan probably has a project to get out in the next 2/3 years but onfield success and crowds of 20k+ are needed to make it attractive to a buyer. We are some way off that.
The thing I left out is you'll never buy into the PL cheaper than you will right now. It's why American investors are getting so involved. As a 10 year investment a PL club is a no brainer. The issue is staying a PL club for 10 years (e.g. Villa) If Tan can achieve promotion and keep us there for a couple of seasons any time in the next 5 -8 years he'll make a profit on his investment imo. £100m + parachute for finishing bottom next year FFS! It's the richest league in the world and with the SKY/BT war raging that will not change.
