Missed the first half, just got home. No idea how the goals have come. Expect it's a **** show on our part. Shaw's pulled one back. We're going to have to finally do something we haven't for a while - score 3 or more goals in a game. Are they up to it or not.
Sorry but we're getting worse and worse going forward with every game. So fcking slow, afraid to get the ball OR players into the opposition box quickly or often enough. In the mean time Villa showing that if you get the ball forward and into the box you score goals. 3-1 ****e from us. Opportunity lost today.
Can't comment fully as haven't seen it but we sounded dreadful. Further proof Ronaldo isn't at the level he thinks he is. Sooner he's a sub the better, not that I'm saying this defeat is necessarily down to him. Clearly we need the likes of Antony and Sancho as options, and we definitely miss Varane. Personally I'd be picking Maguire over Lindelof every day, can only assume Maguire still not fit. Massive wake up today.
From what I saw we were just **** at creating anything from midfield. Just like the 2nd half against Sociedad. Slow cumbersome midfield play so I'm not sure it's the forwards' fault. They're feeding off scraps. That's two starts for Van De Beek and he's been **** in both. Got hooked in the seconf half. He needs to be sold. Fcking awful player, complete passenger. And when you're already playing a weakened side he should NOT be anywhere near the side.
A better bet would have been McTominay or Fred instead, with Eriksen at 10. Ten Hag obviously giving DVDB a chance to prove something, which has failed. He'll bin him off now hopefully. We need to get through Thursday and make sure we beat Fulham next weekend. Absolutely have to go into the world cup with a win. Looks like we're in a battle for 3rd or fourth here with Newcastle, Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool, and with only two getting in we're proper up against it.
Based on today though, Spurs and Chelsea not good enough, so two out of three going for 3/4th. That could well be said of us after today as well of course. You'd say Newcastle and Liverpool would be favourites, but Newcastle don't have a decent squad, just a decent first eleven. Genuinely wonder if they can keep this up, what I witnessed at first hand in their game against us was a team playing for a draw. Loads of pretending to be injured time wasting. Which they achieved, so that's a good result for them, not us. Point being, when they made second half substitutions the ones they brought on were rubbish. They could well have a mid season lull.
I think the Chelsea and Spurs results have done us a favour. But tbh, it's one of those where you should get the 3 points to capitalise if you're looking for top 4. Our squad depth isn't good enough and this will be a scrap to the end. I disagree about Livpl. I don't see them as favourites. They've not been consistent. Brainfart by Dier to get the 2nd goal. And they looked knackered in the 2nd half today against a poor spurs side. Newcastle doing well. I'd say part of that is playing without any fear bcos they're way ahead of where they were expected to be. When you got that buffer you're not really worried about losing and you go out confident. I don't know enough about their squad to say how long they will keep this up.
I just think Liverpool have the experience but yeah, this is the same team that lost to Forest and Leeds so they aren't all that. I'd say that we're the best of the bunch, but are at risk of injuries costing us big style. It shouldn't though, our bench should he able to beat the likes of Villa.
So many international team prospects are just ticking over, trying not to pick up any injures this side of the World Cup, none more so than CR7 who is coasting, doing nothing more than required, particularly as this is his last WC. The best we can hope for is that all our squad come back injury free so that we can focus on the second half of the season.
I do woder why they do weird **** like make the draw for next round before this round is complete, the FA do it as well. Could it not wait until tomorrow? Anyway, yes, we do have to try to win this. It wouldn't be be a good thing going into the world cup break with defeats stacking up. Same as with Fulham game, absolutely have to win.
I don't think either game will be easy. Villa will be full of confidence. Fulham performances have been solid, better than their results. I don't know what's happened to Antony, whether he's injured, but I hope he's back for the last two games. Martial not going to the WC so he should be involved in both as well.
Apologies the draw has not taken place. I actually took a bogus one put up on the PL board as fact. I really should know better lol
