Any Villa fans out there think that they could be dragged into the mire at the bottom of the table? A game in hand but only 4 points in front of QPR and Wigan as the table stands now and if Bolton win their game in hand and Villa lose theirs they will be only 3 points away from the chasing pack. If Rangers and Wigan keep up a run of form and either of Bolton or Blackburn do the same then I think Villa might end up in 18th on the last game of the season. Has there been a manager who has relegated two teams in successive seasons from the Premiership before? We've all heard "too good to go down" before but can anyone else see Villa shipping enough points to be threatened?
I do think they will be dragged into it in as much as the sound of some of the bottom teams express train pushes for safety will be ringing in their ears and will spur them out of their complacency and get them the points needed. We have to keep the engine stoked and not slow down at the stations; we're heading through!
They will be ok, they just need one win to be safe although if they dont get that by the Bolton game, the last 3 look tricky. WBA away, Spurs home and Norwich away.
To be honest I'd love to see them go down as they are another of those teams who think they've a God-given right to be in the PL. In reality I hope they thrash Bolton as that would keep Bolton behind us. It's easier to stay up from in front than trying to come from behind...
they should lose their next two games against man ure and sunderland so if they do get the win lets hope its against bolton i can see them grinding out 3 draws to stay safe but they will be edgy on current form and the same thing happened to Brum last year
Yes, there's a lot in that. Right now I can see all the teams really threatened with relegation, or needing points at the top, having a good chance against teams who are mid-table safe, or think they are. Think the main difference between us and swansea was that we really wanted and needed a win. Swansea did not have that need and therefore not the same aggression. I hope we manage to show the same greed / need for 3 points at West Brom - if we do it could really make the difference, as for me if we go in thinking 1 point will be ok, and West Brom feel a cold wind from beneath and really go for the 3 points that would make them about safe, we could well lose. I hope MH is putting this message over - West Brom are probably our easiest remaining game and its one we got to take 3 points from.
Sorry Sooper ,for the first time i have to disagree with you, it's actually very easy to stay up when coming from behind :
Set myself up there, didn't I? - You lot are full of this...
There have been too many twists and turns already for me to worry about any particular team. A few weeks ago I thought Bolton would survive because of the Muamba miracle galvanising them. Similarly Blackburn because they were playing for their manager. The most important fact is that we have got our noses in front of them. Hughes will be telling the boys just to to just concentrate on keeping it there. If we do what we can it really does not matter. Forn what it is worth i think Villa will sneak enough points to get away but hopefully at Bolton's expense.
