FLW can exclusively reveal that Aston Villa are the latest club to show an interest in Leeds United midfielder Lewis Cook, after Villa scouts watched the youngster play in their match against Birmingham City on Saturday.

According to FLW sources, scouts from the Midlands club were present at Elland Road on Saturday to watch the highly-rated midfielder in their 1-1 draw with Birmingham City.

The promising midfielder started the game and played 78 minutes of the match, before being replaced by striker Souleymane Doukara.

Villa join Liverpool in the race to sign one of the best young talents in the division, and they could be ready to table a January offer for the central midfielder

Attention that we don't need, okay I gather scouts watch players week in and week out but this constant attention to Cook is surely unwanted. Could and would we resist a big money offer, if we don't pull away from the danger zone would Cellino be tempted to cash in, thoughts?

Nothing new in that story, most teams with a decent player or two have their games scouted that's football. I bet a majority of games have scouts attending especially in the transfer window. Every player has their price so i would expect Cook to go if the offer was right. Would he be a benchwarmer elsewhere ? Who knows but i'm sure he would jump at the chance to play for a top team in the premiership. We are going nowhere fast so who could blame him.

What I don't get is this constant 'scouting' of our players. Anyone would think we are walking this division. Why aren't the prem teams all over Bournemouth / Derby / Ipswich' the teams flying in this league. Do we really need the cash more than the teams above. Given we're nowhere near top how come all want our players. No disrespect but surely Hughes at the Rams would be higher up the pecking order than cook /,Mowatt etc

Vultures circling, these teams see us or view us as having massive problems off the pitch, Cellino possibly getting kicked out and where would that leave us, we are languishing near relegation and instead of January inflated prices they are hoping to catch us on the hop and grab the little talent we have on the cheap. Either that or like McCarthy snapping up Hunt and wanting Sharp and to an extent Lees at Sheff W they see us as a team of half decent players who are not having the best brought out of them.

It would appear that WAY certainly that the ones we thought were not up to the plate for us suddenly blossom

Villa can scout who they want from our team if there is money involved Learner won't sanction it. He fallen out of love with the idea of owning Villa. Lambert doesn't have money to spend on players cos Learner who allow it and he's looking to sell the club.

Celino wants top dollar for our players but Learner won't pay.

The most likely will be Liverpool or the Scum who buys Cook

To be honest, this is exactly how I see us and have seen us for a few seasons pretty much since the Grayson days. We have been treated to absolutely ****e managers without a clue that are completely unable to bring the best out of players (or even the par it seems). Yes I do think we lack certain players in certain positions (mainly width) but a large portion of these players are underperforming.

Thing is Cook could certainly do worse than staying at LUFC and playing week in week out at a champ club. However if we get relegated that will do very little for his career I think.

Over the years, especially since the Revie days Leeds have produced some good raw talent, it only stands to reason they'd want to come to the best club looking for good players.

Problem with having an academy is, we can't bring'em all up to the first team, so some will eventually go any way, including those who stepped up to first team.

I am always a bit surprised how many posters are so calm, so accepting, of threats our better players may be coaxed away

For me it started with Delph and has gone ever since, these are the players I enjoy watching, not 30 yr old journeyman doing the basics

Cook may not have had his best game, he still showed promise we rarely see in Leeds players

Am I the only one thinking it would be outrageous if he was sold?

I know all the reasons why Delph and the rest were sold, but why are we all so reasonable?

Totally wrong to sell him but unless we pull away from the bottom it might be a case of the owner cashing in on him. If we were to slip into L1 the ideal situation would be keep him but his agent would be working overtime in trying to find him a move away and on the cheap.

L1 football and £2k a week or maybe in the region of £10k a week premiership football with Liverpool. Forget he isn't ready and won't even make the bench, he is 17 he will believe he can do it and his agent will be in his ear telling him he can too.

    2020vision,

Cook hasn't had many good games for a while, it's redders that keeps saying he has then others, including siome media feed of that.

He's only 17, what redders is doing to him at moment can be more damaging than selling him or dropping him for a few weeks.

He has potential, brought on by a professional coach would be in his best interests for future, but at moment he's taking up a position, and every other position Redders plays him in, that a much better player who can create an impact in team could play.

Right now, Redders is brainwashing him for Redders benefit. Have a look at the stats below, then compare them. Run your curser over each coloured box without a x in it.

Only had a quick look, will spend some time on it later. Did a quick compare of passing accuracy. He's scored 78%. Interestingly, Austin has scored 80%. And who get all the criticism for his passing? Out of all the midfield, only Murphy is a poorer passer than Cook!

Haven't seen many games at all this season so maybe Austin has improved.

Saying that, this is the exact reason I hate stats in football, you can use them to prove pretty much anything imo. Cook may lose the ball trying a neat little flick or a tough through ball whereas Austin loses the ball in critical areas where we could concede as a result. Thats why he is seen as a worse passer.

No Austin hasn't improved, he's still ****ing ****, only he looks slightly better than **** when he comes on as a sub with 20 minutes to go, and does enough to get a start in the next game.

Then he reverts to being ****ing **** again, and the cycle continues

Yea I realise that, I didn't actually for one second genuinely believe Austin had improved....

Kinda the reason I said I hated stats.
