Evening QPR fans. I know you are probably seething, to be honest I am not happy with our result today either. I know it's doom and gloom on here and understandably having seen your form and run in but you just have to try and keep faith. You are only 1 point off safety remember. Sorry but I can't look at Blackburn and say realistically they will go down. I've thought all season they will get out of it and they should have enough + enough winnable games. I don't see why everybody (pundits) is so sure that Villa are safe, I think everybody below WBA realistically could go down. Villa have 9 games left, 4 of which are to Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool and United. I've been to Villa Park a few times to watch Villa and they are one of the worst teams I have seen live. To my mind Bolton and certainly Blackburn are better teams than them w/out Bent. Whilst I think it's unlikely, don't rule Villa out yet. They still need 2 wins and I really can't see where those two wins are coming from based on what I've seen of them. Knowing my luck Villa will now go and beat us, beat Liverpool and end the season on 50 points but they really aren't that good IMO.
Thanks DL - I've not been to concerned about Villa as I been more focused on the likes of Wigan, Wolves, Bolton and Blackburn. But clearly, if we finsh 17 or better, I don't too much care who we leave behind and if it's Villa, well, okay.
We need 8 points just to be level with them with an inferior goal difference. Even if they lost every game, the most optimistic QPR fan would say we can get 10 more.
Without Bent, they are like a rattlesnake without the venom, If Villa get more than 4/5 points from now till May I will be shocked. 36/37 may not be enough as a lot of the teams in the bottom half still have to play each other.
D L is an unusual character. One minute he posts a real gem and you think "he's nailed it on this one". Then he comes out with an absurd comment like the this and you wonder if he really follows football at all. What a strange bloke.
I personally think 35 points will be enough to stay up, problem is I can't see us reaching 35 with our run-in. The one season we could have got away with it and we still look likely to cock it up! Will three others of the bottom five fail to reach 35? We are left praying that the ineptitude of others is even worse than ours...
Well let's rule out Chelsea, United and City away and then break it down. Stoke (H) - Poor away record, nothing to play for. On holiday, last QPR home game bound to be a sell out and decent atmosphere No reason why you can't get 3 points here. Swansea (H) - Poor travellers (although they have got better of late). On holiday and nothing to play for. 3 points WBA (A) Poor at home. Based on what I've seen just about winnable. 3 points Arsenal (H) - Tricky but on the small pitch they will be less effective, don't like it when teams get it up them, can easily get a point Spurs (H) See above 11 points, but let's just say 8 for arguments sake would usurp the 35 point mark.
I think the pitch size thing is a myth. The smallness of the stadium gives that impression. Wikipedia (Yes I know. I'll try and find something more concrete) Emirates - 105m x 68m WHL - 100m x 67m Loftus Road - 112m x 72m
I don't think it's a myth. The stadiums that are more enclosed, tight and closer to the fans are the ones that the so called "bigger teams" tend to struggle at. It doesn't surprise me at all that the big teams struggle against Stoke and it doesn't surprise me that Arsenal struggle at Craven Cottage, Brittania etc. Defend deep, put pressure on the midfield and you always have a good chance against Arsenal and even Tottenham as well
I can't see Villa getting anything from next four games so yes i believe they could fall in fact I have a fiver on them going down as the big surprise ... i think they are rubbish
To be honest, cannot see QPR getting anything from Arsenal. They are on form, we are just inconsistant. (Pretty sure one of our last fixtures against Arsenal ended in a 6 nil defeat with QPR scoring 3 own goals) I thought, that IF we could finish against Sunderland with 11 on the pitch then maybe a draw would or could have been possible. However, been following Rangers long enough to know that there are times when we surprise ourselves and beat teams we would ordinarilly lose to.
Yeah just to amend my earlier post Wikipedia are wrong in that our pitch is given in metres rather than yards. This site seems a bit more reliable. http://www.footballgroundguide.com/ The Emirates - 115 x 74 yards WHL - 110 x 73 yards Loftus Road - 112 x 72 yards. While The Emirates is slightly bigger, White Hart Lane is actually smaller than Loftus Road. I don't think these differences are significant enough to matter tbf, although I take your point about smaller stadia with the crowd "on top" of the players. I'd be interested to know when your ground was redeveloped was the pitch made smaller as it seemed to be a lot bigger back in the day when your stands were a bit more "open plan"? The problem with defending deep, high or wherever is that we're just defending abysmally. Similarly our midfield has no chance of pressing opponents, when they're constantly putting themselves under so much pressure with loose passes and ill-discipline. I live in hope though.
