With no other fixtures tonight, i'll be stewing on the result late into the night tonight. Obviously if we win, it's happy days (for the time being). But if we draw or lose, how should i feel? Lose and i feel that Villa are almost away and it's now down to 3 from 5 (damn Sunderland's win on Sunday). Draw and i guess not much changes - but it's one less fixture to get us out of trouble and a relatively easy one at that - so opportunity lost... How 'terminal' is tonight's result if it's not a win...? Not wishing to tempt fate of course but i want to know how to feel - although we're going to win, of course...!
We definitely can't afford to lose, but a win would be massive! The biggest problem is the other teams around us still have to play each other,so their guaranteed to get some points. With Chelsea next,i just feel we need 3 points,as much for our own confidence as what it would do to Villa's.Hull are the side we really need to get stuffed over the coming weeks, they have a really daunting run in!
I'm of the same mind Houston. If we get nought, we're doomed. But after Palace and Everton losses, i was convinced that we were gonnas anyhow, so having a chink of light now is a bonus! The pain continues...!
Villa have been poor at home all season, we have to go for it, use Bobby as a batterong ram and shove it down Sherwoods throat. Villa have scraped through survival the last few seasons, they are a poor side - this is a winable fixture and we've left it too late in the season to think about anything except victory - defeat is not an option
Need to win tonight & then home to West Ham & Newcastle to have a chance going into the last game at Leicester. Any points against Chelsea, Liverpool & Man City would of course be a massive bonus. Huge tonight - win & we are still in it - lose & I fear we will fall short. I think Hull will drop with their run in (Saints/Liverpool/Palace/Arsenal/Burnley/Spurs/Man U) - possibly only 3 points from that lot. If we can get above Villa after tonight it will be a big lift for us & a massive blow for them...
Villa will put us under a lot of pressure in the first 15 minutes and create chances. It is essential that we do not concede or lose our shape. Villa outplayed us us at home in the first half but failed to score, so 0-0 at H/T will suit me fine.
I'm working tonight so I won't be able to watch (that's a good omen for us). I'm feeling almost as nervous as I was in the build up to OBZ day but at the same time I'm feeling confident. I can't see much work being done before 10pm. COYR's
We can't afford to lose. We really could do with a win but a draw would keep us within striking distance of Villa.
Win and we have a chance - we will have dragged Villa and Hull (who are both looking fragile) well into the mix and given Burnley and Leicester cause for serious concern I don't want to think about the other results...
A draw wouldn't be curtains, but a loss would be the final nail in the coffin. A win and the torture continues. I'll take the torture!!!
