Can anyone be strictly neutral about the other auto spot, or do we all have preferences? Personally, if we weren't playing Hull today, I'd like them to win their last game and make it for past personal reasons, but I never want to see us lose. Maybe a draw up there would be fair on this last day, but that would leave the door open for Watford. We're up, so does it matter to anyone else on here who joins us?
It's a hard choice Sparkey, I'd like to see Hull come up with us too but can't wish a loss on us. I'm with HT on Leicester and Palace. Don't care about Wolves but would like to see Posh avoid the drop. It's going to be a first but I'll be cheering on Leeds today.
Hannah - Palace missing out would make my day too. Only problem would be that Billy Davies will probably get a shot at it instead. Can't take to the the wee man at all - ever since he bought Whitts...........
DJ - Posh staying up would do me as well. If they and Barnsley can somehow get results, it could be your namesake going through the trap door instead. Now that would be interesting with past experience of Mandaric.
I would prefer Hull to go up so a draw at the KC and at Watford would do nicely. Hope Palarse miss out on the play offs. It's a shame Blackburn aren't going down. They deserve to due to their owners, players and fans.
For me, it's down to who would cause us most problems next season. We need to finish above three teams next year, so which two coming up with us could we beat next year. Watford may get another load of foreign imports and could be strong. Bolton seem to have some depth to their squad. So possibly Hull and Brighton through the playoffs. Was going to say Palace as possibly the weaker team, especially with Zahahahaha going next season.
Yeh I would have preferred Rovers to go down instead of Wolves. And I don't want Bolton to be promoted, mainly so we can buy Eagles
As I said to the Hull fan earlier, be quite happy for Hull to come up with us, but like you Sparkey, I can't entertain us losing to help them do it. I hope a draw might be good enough, but unless the weeds are putting out a different team I can't see them getting anything today. Perhaps the tigers will get it right today and win on merit, no complaints if they do that and come up with us.
According to the bbc 15 teams are involved in relegation or promotion / playoff battles. I am just glad we are not involved.
Of course, if we are hammering them and a bit of pity starts to creep in, we can always remember this thread. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/199186-FAO-Any-Cardiff-fans?p=4363637#post4363637
Hull could be without injured captain Robert Koren as they search for the victory over Cardiff which would clinch promotion to the Premier League. Manager Steve Bruce says Koren, who has missed the last two games with a calf injury, is "50-50" for the match. Champions Cardiff will name Nicky Maynard as one of their substitutes following the striker's return to fitness after eight months out injured. The 26-year-old suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Cardiff manager Malky Mackay will field a full-strength side against Hull as he knows victory for the champions would boost his former club Watford's promotion hopes. Hull hold a one-point advantage over Watford, who host Leeds at Vicarage Road. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head • Hull lead by the slenderest of margins in the head-to-head standings against Cardiff, with 20 wins, 19 losses and 18 draws from 57 league encounters. • The 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture nearly six months ago was Cardiff's win number eight of what turned out to be a club record 10 in a row at home. Goals at either end of the game from Heidar Helguson and Mark Hudson settled the issue. • Cardiff are looking for a second double in three seasons over their East Yorkshire opponents. Hull City • Hull, who've not won nor scored in three, need all three points against the newly crowned champions to confirm that they will be joining Cardiff as the second automatically promoted club, back to the Premier League they vacated in 2010. • If the Tigers tumble to a third defeat in four outings, they could miss out on second place and be destined to a first play-off campaign since 2008, when they beat Bristol City in the final with a goal from Dean Windass, and gained a first ever taste of top-flight football in what was then the clubs' 104-year history. • Goals have been precious for Steve Bruce's club this season, as each has been worth 1.32 points; the highest value in the Championship. Cardiff City • Cardiff are revelling in their first promotion campaign to the top-flight in 53 years, in which they have won an unrivalled 25 of their 45 games. • The Bluebirds are on a seven-match unbeaten run (W2, D5), of which the last three have been drawn - the first of which was goalless at home to Charlton on 16 April and sealed promotion. • Manager Malky Mackay may have an incentive to win this match, as defeat for Hull could give the second automatic promotion spot to Watford, his former club. • David Marshall has kept an unrivalled 18 clean sheets, having been in goal for every minute of Cardiff's title-winning campaign. • 30-year-old defender Kevin McNaughton is anticipating his 250th league appearance for the Bluebirds.
Can we all agree then that Peterborough beating Palace today would be our preferred result elswhere? I suspect that Posh being safe and the prospect of Hollowhead finishing in seventh would not be unwelcome to most on here?
This is very strange sitting here promoted, we have missed out on the play offs but we can`t have everything. I am rather generous to other teams as I am sure thousands of their fans are pretty decent. When we needed other teams to lose no one was more passionate than me that they did lose but now I don`t wish any bad luck on any of them, I am far too too happy to let anything spoil our brilliant season. jck
It's not a question about wishing bad luck on anyone jck - it's about personal preferences based up your own experiences and football history, not just forum rhetoric on here. Maybe it's just about personalities like the managers, players and figurehead owners at other clubs. I don't happen to like Freedman, Davies or Hollowhead, but Bruce and Zola sit just fine with me. Don't dislike Pearson either for that matter. Ideal scenario would be for Hull and Watford to eventually make it alongside us. I think Hull will need to do it today - can see them struggling in the playoffs. Watford would have the better chance of getting through if it came down to that lottery.
No wondered he's looked a bit knackered this season, not easy playing for 2 teams, especially on the same day
What a day! Glad Hull went up. Funny watching Bruce chasing the ref down the tunnel though - clear penalty.
