This guy is going to make one hell of a manager when he hangs up his boots. In10 years time it will be great after yet another superb win for his side on their way to the league title to see him being interviewed by the highly respected top TV football presenter and pundit James Ward-Prowse.
Yeah. All jokes aside. I dont think I have ever been more proud of a captain (I've only been watching since '93). I have a huge amount of respect for Fonte, not only for making the massive step up in class, but also for being our rock and key motivator. I seem to remember there have been a couple of points where people have questioned his ability at the top levels but this season he has proven everyone wrong and i couldn't be happier for the guy. I also have a substantial man crush on him... he has definitely blossomed since our league one days!
Very good interview. I am still amazed that Fonte had the vision to drop to League 1...must be that magical DVD. Hope this puts the Pardew rumours to bed....he admires AP. Fonte comes over so well...very eloquent with none of the usual footballer's clichés. An excellent Captain much respected by the players. A little bit more nakedness would have made the video perfect
A little bit more nakedness would have made the video perfect [/QUOTE] Don't think it would have been appropriate to have had Mrs Fonte at the interview?

To think that he was overshadowed by Hooiveld in the Championship and now he's one of the best PL defenders!
He made Lovren look good as well...perhaps we have just underestimated his contribution....after all, no manager has ever dropped him.
Unbelievable player, unbelievable attitude, an absolute credit to the football club. In an age where role models in football are hard to come by, he is a shining light to all youngsters in the game.
I'm ashamed to say that before the 'summer meltdown' began, I was thinking about positions we could improve on, and Fonte's position was one of them. Delighted to be proven wrong, so important for us on and off the pitch. Love you Jose
I said it when we were in League One - he was the best CB we had. In the Championship, I said he was the best CB we had - yes, better than Jos, and last season he was every bit as good as Lovren. He's a natural leader and he believed in the project. Remarkably, he's even better than I expected him to be this season, and it's due to him assuming the leadership and being made the captain. He's turned himself from a very good defender indeed into a superb CB, and the style in which he plays will allow him to carry on for years yet. Huge respect for him. Portuguese international too, now.
And as well as becoming a great CB, he is also a superb leader. The fact we have the best defence in the top 4 divisions in England is in no small part down to Jose's organisational skills. You can see him in every match, constantly signalling to the back 4 and keeping them straight, and springing the trap whenever the opposition looks like it's threatening.
