According to Dutch football magazine Voetbal International Norwich have made a deal with PSV Eindhoven to buy Ola Toivonen. Both clubs have supposedly agreed to a 5.5 million euro deal for the Swedish International player, which is around 4.8 million pounds. The 26 year old Swede has one year left on his contract with PSV and was injured most of the 2012-13 season. Toivonen joined PSV in 2009 coming over from Mälmo FF.

As you know the league better than most of us, what are your thoughts on him?

both those pieces are guess work. "weighing up " options and filed 6 days ago for WBA. £2m bid from Fulham? i doubt that he will go for less than the £4m quoted elsewhere, and is as suggested, we have offered £4.8m for him i would say we are in pole position. so long as a bidding war does not develop. i think he and RvW could be an excellent pairing.

Reminds me of Matt Svensson a bit.

I haven't seen him play so excuse my ignorance, but is he a bit of a clint dempsey? Seems to be very similar, which is a good thing adding goals to our team and versatility.

He's more the DM/CM kind of midfielder, likes to pick up the ball from the defense, playmaker, not the target man or the guy who can create action in the game.

he's the kind of guy who can be thrown forward though if need be, good in the air, but as you say, not a centre forward. didn't realise he also plays DM - never seen him play there, although he does tend to drift all over the place! i would assume he would end up playing in an advanced midfield role were he to join but also add an option to play wide left (where i've seen him play before)

Rutten tried him to push into a more CF or ST role but that never really worked, he just lacks a bit creativity and agility to really be an effective forward. His tactical abilities and vision is far better suitable for midfield, he is the guy who can start the attack, not lead it. His crossing is decent and he can play in LM, but not in an LW position.

i like him bombing forward, arriving late in the box. could be our own paul scholes (obviously he's not as good as he was in his prime <laugh>).

ok, so left midfield - yep, he was very advanced the times i've seen him but i suppose he was playing in a more traditional left sided role now i think about it.

This sounds really good. Now is the time to worry because when I start to feel this good everything starts to go tits up. Still, I live in hope.

I was hoping you would come in on this, Cove, as it's always good to have someone on the spot. I've had a look on NewsNow and there is no mention of Fulham since the People ran a speculative story on Sunday about a £2m bid for Toivonen. Anything about that over there Cove?

Checked it, Dutch media quote the Mirror as well, can't help you much further there mate. I'd call the Mirror article a filler, not much base for the rumour as 2 million is way too low. The only link I can think of is Manolev being loaned out to Fulham, PSV right back, but that's about it, no connections between Jol and Toivonen or PSV other than that.

Thanks for that Cove. I've just looked at Fulham boards and their NewsNow list and there's no mention of Toivonen.
