Very Soon Now

Now the Games are nearly over
From John O´Groats right down to Dover,
And west to Land´s End
Football fans will send
Their blessings, soon to be in clover

And although this extravaganza
Of all sports has been a bonanza,
The 4-yearly treat
Where all the world meet
May soon be forgotten, now fans are...

...all drooling in anticipation
And hoping for no consternation,
As in a few days
We start to appraise
This season, and its expectation

With so many new things to spot
Like beach volley bottoms, when hot,
Pre-season this year
Has had its fair share
Of distractions, soon though to stop

And now that the swimmers have swum
And so many runners have run,
We´re back with the sport
Which millions, in short
Consider just can´t be outdone

And although I would agree there
These past three weeks with special fare,
Have been quite a joy
As we set to toy
With our second Premier League year

So now the attention must be
To perform magnificently,
So we hold our own
And there are no moans
From us or our boss Hughton C

And although we may not win gold
In the 5 ring tradition of old,
´Tis the taking part
That most warms the heart
And ours is far from going cold. OTBC
