Not just the loss but the fact that the usual bad press surrounding City all season has tainted what might have been a City legend's last game for us.

If rumours are true Craig Bellamy will now retire. An incredible loss to the club.

Would like to see him stay on even if he only played every other game or if it were for 20 minutes a game. Huge presence on and off the field.

sadly lads i feel it's time for bellers to hang up his boots he's been a fantastic player over the years but he hasn't got the pace which was so instrumental to his game and personally i would rather him go out on a high (in the premier league and with a goal)

    Agreed Ccfc

Bellers has been a shadow of his former self, apart from the odd moment, this season. We simply cannot afford to continue paying his level of wages for that especially in the Championship, and being the honest guy he is he knows that. His wages could pay for 2 or 3 good Championship players next season.

His 3 seasons with us have been total roller coasters and football will be the poorer when he confirms his retirement............until he gets into management anyway.

As far as I could see he was the only one of today's squad who did not come back on the pitch at the end. Too emotional maybe?

Speaking of which, I can understand Medel and Kimbo not being there as they are probably joining up with their countries pre-World Cup but where were KWJ and Zaha? I can't see either of them having the same excuse.

Big player and i have loads of respect for the guy, He always does his best for whoever he plays for and has been a credit to wales also. He has his tantrums but you get what you get from bells and that is 100%... Should go into management imo..<ok>

Don't want to be controversial but...........

Take nothing away from Beller's footballing career for clubs and country, but other than his presence at the club, be brought nothing to our game this Premier League season. If we'd got up there after his first loan period from Man City, we'd have seen the huge difference he makes on the pitch.

For the games he did play this year, he was asked to do the wrong job by Malky in the first half of the season. He was not up to running up and down the length of the pitch helping out in defence and having to fetch and carry. The gameplan was containment, and Bellamy's strengths out wide, tucked in behind the frontman, or even playing right up front off the shoulder of the last defender were wasted.

I seriously hope he decides to play a part next season in the Championship on the pitch, not just in some sort of coaching/motivation role. The impact he could have on games down there being played in a role that suited his current abilities (not those of 5 years ago) could make the difference in getting back up at the first attempt.

If he did that, his current legendary Welsh National status would be equalled at club level at his home town Welsh club - this season was always going to be a tough call for him at this level and style of play.

I think you make some good points Sparks - good luck next season by the way - personally I think the Prem needs both the 'big' Welsh clubs in it ... (along with the East Midlands giants of course <laugh> ... and before the wiseguys come back, no I'm not referring to Forest or Derby - although I think both those clubs shuld also be in it if I take off my blue tinted specs for a while <laugh>)

Would love him to be available for us next season, but I think the harshness of the championship would be too much for him now. He would be taking a lot more knocks than he would if we were still PL.
Was one of the most exciting times when he first came to us on loan, a real tour de force.
