Right. I've been accused of going mad and making things up and on the face of it this doesn't sound feasible but I'm adamant I'm right. I used to visit family in Whitley bay in the mid 80s - 93ish. The swimming pool waves had a diving pool next to the main pool with a big glass bit you could look through and see people diving/swimming under water. I am absolutely certain that for a period of time they had a turtle in said diving pool. At that point you weren't allowed to dive in it but I'm sure it was a thing for a while. I've spoke about it and people are sure I'm misremembering/making **** up. I don't suppose anyone here saw/remembers it?
So your the perv who didn’t ever swim but spent all his time looking through the glass? Now the avi makes sense I’m sure it was a mosaic on the wall !!! Not a real one
I'm from Whitley Bay but we moved away when i was still young (mid-80s). We did used to go back, swimming, ice rink, etc. I'd have been like 7-10 at the years your suggesting and I'll be honest, I don't remeber any turtles and I kind of think I would have done. It's possible I've just forgotten though, or didn't visit the baths when the turtle was in situ. So don't worry too much, you mentalist.
On the floor I'm sure there was more than one turtle as well 1 large one and 1 about half size The mind plays tricks the older you get
You sure you didn't just see a mackem on a day out taking a **** in the pool? Would explain not being allowed to dive in for a while!
There is the story of the Ashington born BBC news reporter given his big opportunity on the Six O’ Clock main BBC News program when a van load of tortoises died in a crash on the Spine Road just outside Ashington and right on cue started his report with “It’s a ‘turtle’ disaster here on the Spine Road”
