You could even say he's causing it the way he's going, not just failing to achieve.

Why can we not keep players happy? Liverpool kept Suarez happy and they weren't even in Europe. Surely he didn't believe they would have the season they are having

Not much in the comments, he's just being realistic. I think we all know that Lloris and Vertonghen, in particular, would interest other clubs and if we miss out on the CL again it wouldn't be a surprise if they got ithcy feet. I'm sure Notso will disagree with me(<whistle>) but I'd rather they answered honestly, like this, than lie to us like Modric did.

why does he have to say anything? He should concentrate on training to improve his own performances, especially if he wants to move up in the world because nobody better than Spurs will sign him based on recent matches.

Why does any player answer questions on their future? Ideally they'd never say anything that they hadn't run through our press officer first but they all still talk to the press and it's something that we should be used to by now. Besides if Vertonghen had blanked the questions on his future all the articles would be saying "Vertonghen silent on Spurs future" or "Jan refuses to commit to future at Spurs" which is pretty much what we've got now.

he's one of our better players though, tots. We've seen how good he can be. There's 2 main problems though.

1)His defensive teammates that he's played alongside each week are distinctly average
    2) he's played many games out of position.

He IS one of our better player's but still part of the team that has put us where we are,he should vow to improve our position ,not talk about leaving

He looked a slashed off angry player yesterday, no surprise that though when he is turning out alongside Naughton and Dawson every week.

His form since his return from injury has been erratic, and yesterday he was particularly poor, it is never easy after a lengthy injury to rediscover form straight away, he looked a player angry at his own performance.

Players are always going to talk to the media because of the potential deals on offer for top players. They like to keep themselves in the shop window.

  12. Who'd be happy about playing for Spurs at the moment? Only players who didn't have ambitions of playing in the CL, because we've been building a team of CL minded players.

Levy has to shoulder most of the blame. He brought in AVB as the cheapest, but not necessarily the best, manager for us, and then got rid of him by replacing him with Sherwood, the cheapest, but not necessarily the best, manager for us.

The managers we've had tells you that Levy does not believe that the manager is all that important when it comes to building a top 4 side.

I find that surprising and alarming in equal measure.

    1) until Levy allows a manager to buy the players he wants (obviously within what we can afford) and forgets about the DoF we will never do anything other than get to 5th place and quarter finals of cups

    2) Until Levy allows a manager to properly build a squad over a 5 year period we will never do anything other than get 5th place and quarter finals of cups

    3) Until levy stops sacking decent managers (Martin Yol, Redknapp) and replacing them with one of his whims (AVB, Ramos, Sherwood) we will never do anything other than get 5th place and quarter finals of cups

    4) until players play consistently we will never do anything other than get to 5th place and quarter finals of cups

Oh and Vertongen was dog **** yesterday and would be more respected if he'd answered by starting with " I owe the fans much better performances for the rest of the season cos yesterdays was appalling...as was my performance against city away!"

We could start by stopping Levy from choosing the manager! Let's face it, his track record is somewhat less than impressive. You mentioned Jol and Redknapp, both of whom he ended up with either by default, or in a panic after having to fire yet another of his **** ups!...

Verts suffers from what most belgium players suffer from, being over hyped and then inconsistant play. the only two Belgiums who are "different", are Hazard & Kompany.

The rest. Verts, Dembele, Fellani, Lakaku, Vermalen, Chadli (eek), Benteke, Mirallas are all over hyped based on ability they can't sustain, or a level of performance they can't sustain so always be wary of signing a Belgium !

I think many of us - even if some didn't want to admit it at the time - thought/ knew AVB's appointment/ Harry's sacking was a complete and utter disaster.

Sherwood has done ok, not great but not dreadful. Had AVB been in charge in the games Sherwood has, would we be 5th? I doubt it. I'd say we'd be 10th/ 11th by now, the difference being mainly down to Ade's resurgence and actually trying to attack sides (Norwich aside <laugh>).

If LVG does become available after the world cup, I'd be very surprised if Levy doesn't make a move for him.
