Are you disappointed that he's signed for them?
Would he have been a good addition? He's versatile - can play LB, CB, or DM.
Do you wish Arsenal had picked him up instead?

Surely he'll strengthen the Spurs defense, he seems a very good player.

    No.
    Yes. It's LB, not RB.
    Not bothered.

very well thought out response....at least dont wind you own fans up!

i think we have bagged ourselves a very good central defender...and he would definately have fitted into most football playing teams as he does attack from the back, scores goals.set pieces..and can also defend...really happy he has signed for us instead of anyone else to be quite frank...and would have been fuming had he not joined us after the prolonged saga.

Sounds like Vermaelen for us. I'm not bothered on losing out on him, as we were in for him and suddenly cooled interest for some reason. If Arsenal decided they didn't need him, they must have had good reason.

yeah he has been likened to Verm..and if he has a sudden impact similar to what Verm had for you then ill be happy..as for the cooling of intrest..we all know that that could be anything and not just football related...however its a plus for us...lets see how it goes.

He asked questions, I responded. I don't see the problem.

He is a Vermaelen clone, and we need a CB that doesn't think he is a CF half of the time.

Vertonghen will cost you a lot of silly goals next season.

Won't make a difference, Spurs, as usual, will end below the mighty Arsenal, as they have done for over 10 seasons.

Spurs need was far greater than Arsenal's so it is very likely that they would have offered more money in the long run and a nailed on first team spot that we couldn't offer.

There were a lot of clubs looking at Vertonghen and several had the opinion that he wasn't good enough. Chelsea and Man Utd could do with another CB and neither were at all interested.

He has the ability to play "quite well" at LB and DM, but in honesty "quite well" is probably not going to be good enough for the premiership so it really doesn't count for anything.

I think his CB partner Alderweireld is actually a better buy for us, younger and has played RB at international level.

Ok, I'll give you something. I think Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal (with or without RVP) will do better than anyone predicts, and Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City will do far worse. YaYa Toure was THE driving force behind City's win last year and he is going to be one year older and less hungry than last year. Giggs and Scholls just havent got another year in them and Kagawa is going to take a year to settle. Chelsea are going to need a year or two to rebuild, and similar to City they are going to be a lot less hungry.

AVB is not as bad as everybody makes out, and Modric, just like RVP, is a blessing and a curse. When they play, it all depends on them. Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs have made some shrewd signings, have some new faces on the coaching side of the bench and are desperate to win.

aww Spudcock needs our approval for their new player. !

    How cute.

Before you bought him he was irrelevant .

Since you bought him he is irrelevant.

Spurs is like a black hole where good players go in , and they miraculously dissapear .

And they dont give medals for signing players , sorry . You have to win games to get points.

    Clear enough ?

If your gonna come on here every time your w@nk club , or anyone associated with it sneezes , we are soon going to get pi$$ed of with you.

The OP is an ARSENAL fan ,

He posted on an ARSENAL forum.

Why are you here commenting on his question ?

He was asking US not spuds.

If he wanted spud opinion he would go to your sh1te board.

God knows its dull there but really.

Why are you here spud u like ?

Surely you should be discussing what you going to do when you win the league now , you just bought a new defender , surely you will win the league .

    Spud logic.

    Again .

Same thing with AVB. When chelsea sacked him they laughed at how crap he was, now they have him they're suddenly brainwashed by him with his promises and because of his record OUTSIDE the premier league. They're probably thick enough to believe him when he said he formed the chelsea team that won the CL.

It's safe to know half the callers on talksport weren't as optimistic about AVB after his conference yesterday unlike spurCOCK and a few others.<cool>

In answer to the OP , and not the marauding king edwards, i think he WILL improve their defence .

In the same way that placing large bags of coal or some such obstacle in the central areas around the box would also strengthen it.

It may mean that we only score four and not five against them next season .

    Oh no !
