Im personally gutted as i believe.he will be a great asset for them. However his recent comments have put me off and i dont want anyone who doesnt want to play for.the club. In addition he seems to have no sense of the rivalry between the two clubs. Id rather have vermaelen any time over him.
Rumour has it that we were in for him, but then wenger changed his mind, that's the reason that he has been making this public show of affection for spurs, basically because he wanted to come to us, but wenger decided against it, so he was really pissed off. Someone put up a link that some journalist posted about it a few weeks ago. It may not be true, but would make sense, he made such a big thing about how spurs were his first choice, and how we were interested in him, almost like he was trying to force our hand.
yeah it was from javier perez. Not sure if i trust the guy though its a reasonable explanation should it prove true. However thats not the way to go about forcing our hand though. Really disappointed in him.
@Jan_Vertonghen: Don't believe everything the press writes. Nothing is confirmed. Still player of #Ajax Sky sports news in their haste to be the 1st for breaking news only to get it wrong. Can you imagaine if Sky sports news did something similar saying RVP will stay at Arsenal only for him to later tweet denying this.
Another one who is difficult to assess as he's not been tested in decent league but I reckon he'd go well with Vermaelen. I know Arsenal fans like Koscielny but I think he's bullied a bit easily.
Have to agree with Super Jack. Personally I think Koscielny is the better of the two and if anything Vertonghen would be better alongside him. I can't say I've seen enough of Arsenal to know but when I've seen them play Vermaelen has looked out of his depth defensively and Koscielny has carried him.
he seems to be a great talent mate dont get me wrong. I already stated i think he will do well at spurs. However his attitude disappoints me as i dont want anyone who doesnt want to play for the club. As to whether he is better than kos and vermaelen that remains to be seen.
Love the 'way better'. How many time have you watched Vertonghen? Least, we forgot that this bloke has played in a much weaker league and has proved **** all when it comes to the top tier of club football (CL, or any of the top three leagues). Let's see how he copes with the PL next season, until then do not get carried away.
Fair enough. From the two games against our quite weak attack they both looked quite poor and I've always considered Koscielny to be a bit too much of a tart to be a top PL centre-half but you've obviously seen him a lot more than me.
The only bitterness comes from Spurs fans that have spent years in Arsenals shadows and now Chelsea's too.
He's unproven in a quality league. Also, Ajax walk through the Dutch league like Celtic do in Scotland. With the barrage of attacks he'll have to defend in a Spurs shirt, who knows how bad he will be.
